GPS with no data?
 

hey guys i just flashed my sprint touch and am now using dharvey4651's rom. my question is how can i access gps and use maps without having a data connection(i only have a voice and txt plan). I'm pretty sure you have to download maps or something, but i dunno how or where to get them. Thanks!

i think its if you put your phone on airplane mode you can still use gps.
try it and see if it works!

You need a program that installs its own maps, like Garmin XT, Tom Tom, or IGO8.

thx chicubs but google maps tells me it needs a data connection. but gps viewer works in airplane mode.

Well, obviously it requires a data connection... those maps don't just materialize on your phone!! It just needs the connection to be able to download the maps as you move.

rite but now how and where can i find a program that installs a gps nav and USA maps on my touch?

See mr. casper post. U have to buy it and install in ur phone. Then ur good to go. U don't need data connection after u install it either. Just like using a regular GPS system by garmin,tomtom navigon etc.
