How to get JiveTalk alpha working!!
2 Attachment(s)
This will explain how to get JiveTalk alpha working for those of you who use custom roms with SQLCE removed.
You'll need the two files below and you will have to install them in this order: 1. NETCFv2, 2. SQLCE Note: this is the most important step, you MUST install them in this order for it to work. Credit goes to SneakyElf on the JiveTalk forums http://www.beejive.com/support/forum...&sd=a&start=10 The files below ARE zip files. Renaming them to cab files will not work. You must extract/unzip them. 1. Install JiveTalk alpha (Do not attempt to launch it after install) 2. Install NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab 3. Install sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab 4. Press ok to the Soft reset prompt after installing sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab 5. Launch JiveTalk OPTIONAL 6. I found that if you uninstall NETCFv2 after launching JiveTalk/While JiveTalk is running, it will still work after. So for those of you who don't want to keep the 5MB NETCFv2 installed you may uninstall it and have your JiveTalk still work. 7. ENJOY! |

This still didn't work for me running 5069K

Re: How to get JiveTalk alpha working!!
I would wait for N2c to make another build since K was sort of an emergency build and the 5069* series are bleeding edge builds.
I'm on 5060 and this trick works wonders.. I'm sure it'll probably work up until 5068. |
Re: How to get JiveTalk alpha working!!
FYI, JiveTalk is an alpha release. Not too many ROM chefs give a rat's *** about making it work. So far, there are maybe two ROMs that work, and I don't think they planned on it.
Once JiveTalk goes prime-time, you won't have these issues... |

I never thought of making jivetalk work when I built my ROM.. so yeah most ROM builders dont think about making it work |
Re: How to get JiveTalk alpha working!!
I finally got this Beejive to work using No2chem 5067 using the 2 files posted.
First off though, when I built the custom rom I made sure not to select NET CF 3.5 and sqlce 3.5. Net CF caused Netcf 2.0 not to install giving some type of memory error. I had to reset after each step for Beejive to work. The initial instruction on this thread wouldn't work on no2chems 5067 rom. 1. Installed latest version of Beejive (did not launch) and rebooted. 2. Installed Netcfv2 then rebooted. 3. Installed sqlce30 and rebooted. 4. Initiated an internet connection using PIE so Beejive can be activated. 5. Ran Beejive and it worked. |
