Looking for Live Search Bar today screen plugin
 

You know, the one that comes with WM6. I know the colonel's 3.3 beta 3 has it installed, but does anyone just have a stand-alone .cab for it?

It is the Windows Live cab. This version of Live Search is not the same as the standalone. I do not know why they seperated the apps like they did. Anyway, if you want the today screen plugin, you have to get Windows Live, but the Live Search will be only based in PIE.

hmm, I have windows live, and have no idea how to make it into the today screen plugin.

You sure you don't have the Live Sarch CAB? Is it a standalone program? I think what colonel means is that Windows Live is what's on his ROM and Live Search is the standalone app.

So, thw Windows Live Today plugin basically will start a search from the Today screen but will do it through PIE instead of the Live Search app.

I also have Windows Live and Live Search (from Colonel's AKU 3.5 ROM) and would like to know how to get the Live Search on the today screen.

Let me try to clarify. You cannot get the actual Live Search app as a Today plugin (as far as I know). The only thing that will give you the Today plugin is Windows Live. However, the "Live Search" portion of Windows Live is much different from the stand alone Live Search app. The Windows Live version only runs a web based search function and cannot connect to gps.

Just to add the disccusion for others.

There are two programs from MS. Only one is officially out now.

(1) Windows Live Search

This is available now and is like google maps.

(2) Windows Live

Not available now, betas are floating around. This is replacing MSN/Hotmail in WM5/WM6. It has an RSS reader, does Push Hotmail, MSN Chat (instant messaging) and...adds a search toolbar on the Homescreen/Today screen.
