On Custom ROM's
 

I apologize to the moderators if this is a stupid question and understand if the thread is taken down.

I signed up to the site a little bit ago and am loving the knowledge base it has giving me access to. I've been editing a lot of stuff on my Mogul, adding lots of programs and getting it to my liking. But I've reached the point where I'm considering using a custom ROM, the thing is I'm not sure I have the benefits correct in my mind.

What are the actual pros and cons to using a custom ROM, does it give better memory (removing all bloatware), are the ROM's created to be more efficient and therefore run faster or is that an erroneous assumption. I have a basic understanding about how to use the kitchen to create a ROM for yourself, how to unlock the phone, etc. I’m just not sure I understand the true benefits to doing all this.

Again I really appreciate this forum as it’s allowed me to do a lot of cool stuff with my phone. Everyone keep up the good work.

Most of the good stuff is located in the Mogul upgrade forum, and again most of the must-read stuff is stickied to the top of that forum.
