Is there a FREE GPS software that can do this?

I am not looking for TTS or turn-by-turn or 3d maps or anything fancy. I just want something like Google maps or Windows Live that I can mark Favorites in and save them. So when I find a nice pizza joint or whatever I can just 'Favorite' it and the location stays stored. I have read multiple threads and cant seem to find anything that does this....for free.

Live Search and Google Maps is free why dont u use them....Live Search is real good on finding joints and gas etc...i think google maps looks better as far as GPS but Live Search turn by turn is way easier and it keeps up with your distance as well. H3LL on live search u can say "Pizza Hut" and it pull up all the pizza huts LOL

try GPStoday, http://www.geoterrestrial.com/

its not as featured as google maps or live search, but it will let you save whatever address you are at as a contact, and it takes all your contacts and puts them on the map.
it runs on your today screen, i think it has some good info on their. they're not quite at a 1.0 release yet, but its free and works fine.

good luck

Live Search lets you name and save GPS locations.

Dude Im retarded!!! I always just save it as "GPS position"(default name). I could easily just name my location as whatever I want. thanks for pointing out something I should never have missed!!!

By turn by turn do yall mean voice promps at turns?
If so does google maps offer this I haven't seen it?
Who does offer it for free? Livesearch?
How do I get live search?

Sorry for the barrage of questions. I had a factory navi kit in my Acura some years back, and although google maps gets the job done, I don't have audible turn by turn to help me out, and I get confused with the orientation on google maps (ie I know I need to turn but I can't figure out left or right)

TIA

none of the free apps have voice prompts available, but turn by turn on-screen directions are given. sure wish they did though... who knows maybe they'll incorporate it later.

OK, I understand. The only thing I don't like about the GoogleMaps turn by turn is that it pops at first, but to see your progress on screen you have to get out of the turn by turn directions, and I can't figure out how to toggle between the two...

I agree. I just wanted something free that I could save locations in and completely spaced that, the already superior Live, could do it. If I just name it instead of naming it GPS Location. My needs have been met. You guys are awesome.
