New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
Point UI new website design and .cab
Been a while since the last update. I don't see a link to the forums though... EDIT: the new UI is dope! Cleaner, runs smoother too imo |
Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
Just download the new version and I must say KICKS ***!!! very improved from what i see. looks like the new website has lots of changes too. when you go to the download section it only shows the free one right now but has some options X out which seems to me they will be charging sometime soon for a full version. well hope they dont cripple the free one too much. anyway if you liked it before try it now, in my opinion its faster and sleeker that it was and i will go back to using it again

it's AMAZING!!! I LOOVE IT!
I want to help bring Email, SMS, CallerID, dialpad, and calendar integration to it... I can't believe that pointui is only 4 months old! |

Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
I've been lurking awhile as a new 6800 owner, former 6700 owner. I just registered here to post that this is the App I have been looking for. I see great potential with this software, potential I would gladly pay for.
They have a spot for a pay release soon, and I will jump on it when it arrives. |
Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
I'll give it a shot tonight!

Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
Is the scrolling still counterintuitive? I haven't messed with Pointui in a while.

Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)

I just used it, Yes its smooth, yes its finger friendly, but still the lack of customization and the fact that I had to go into 2 different screens to run my apps bother me. |
Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
I like it quite a bit (just loaded it), but I cannot get it to notice that I have new email. I use my Hotmail account on my Touch and I cannot get it to see there is new mail. Everytime I press the email icon on the home screen, it defaults to the Outlook account, which I do not have configured. Anyone else having a similar issue?
Other than that, it is pretty damn sexy and slick. |
Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
Guess it's still SPB Mobile Shell for the time being. I love the finger-friendly apps but there still seem to be some issues with this one. I am very interested in seeing what they come up with down the road however. The whole project is very promising.

For anyone that is having any issues or wants to change certain things with PointUI, I found this over at their forum. This is certainly a lot of help:

I also notice that whenever I launch PointUI, it activates my Bluetooth for some reason. Can't seem to get it not to do this. Anyone else? Edit: I did end up getting it to work, but it still insists on opening the Outlook account by default, even though my message was in the Hotmail account. Not very intuitive really...Just not worth the effort AFAIC. That and the Bluetooth thing. I noticed now when I went to install PointUI again to see if I could get the messaging to work this last time, when installing, it also asked me where I wanted to install the program to and listed three items this time instead of the normal Device or Storage Card. Now it lists Bluetooth as an installation destination option? Anyone know why it would do this? Did this PointUI thing screw up my phone? I've never seen Bluetooth as an installation destination option before. |

Why? 1) With the reg edits I can launch any app I want. Awesome 2) When I want to get into the nitty gritty of stuff. I can close it. (Completely not like MS that stays in my memory) 3) Simple interface for using phone. When I want to do more again I can just close it. 4) This version is alot more stable than earlier ones. 5) Custimization is on the way. |
Speedup for Version 1.5

This was just posted to help speed up some of the lag when opening contacts and tasks and appointments.
It pretty much cut the time to open those apps in half. This UI (although not perfect) has really enhanced my user experience with my Touch. |
Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
Did anyone notice if they fixed the Uninstall feature?

Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
I'm using the CDMA HTC Touch (XV6900) and this thing drains my battery like no tomorrow just like Spb Mobile Shell. Has anyone found a solution for this? I barely used my phone and kept it in sleep mode most of the day and I'm down to 30% after only having it off the charger maybe ten hours! With Spb Mobile Shell it dropped at similar speeds. With neither program installed it was at about 70% after ten hours. Compare 30% to 70%, huge difference!
I absolutely love PointUI most and can't imagine going back to the default interface...does anyone have any ideas?! |
Re: New PointUI release v1.5a TODAY (5/2/2008)
They have done a great job on this app. I havebeen using it since January when I first stummpled upon it. They sure have come a long way. It was frezzing my Mogul in the early stages so I gave it up fot spb shell. I downloaded the newest version about two weeks ago. No freeze ups at all I have removed my SPB shell from my phone. I never have to put up with the today screen again. I put my pointui in the start up folder>
