Open Evernote Beta April 24th Only!

I've never used Evernote, but hear lots of good things about it... Sign up for an account below, then grab the mobile client and try it out with me...

---

From blog.evernote.com

The new Evernote closed beta is about two months old and we’ve just p***** an important milestone: our first one million notes! During this time, we’ve made lots of improvements to the service and we’ll be announcing a few more big things in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned.

To celebrate (and to do some stress testing on our registration servers), we’re giving away instant beta accounts to everyone who clicks on this secret url (http://preview.evernote.com/Registra...n?code=1MN0tes) from 6 am to 9 pm, California time, today. If you miss the time window but want an account, just sign up using the normal beta application and we’ll send you an invitation soon.

Big thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to test Evernote and send us feedback! We couldn’t do it without you.

This thing is very buggy the search function doest work. So even if you take time to take a picture of something and upload it onto evernote you cant search for it. Also i uploaded two pictures that I alreadY had and it didnt ask me to name it or anything. So what would I search for if I was looking for that special picture? Uninstalling now..not very useful. I could take a picture of something or use the note function on the phone. Instead of having to log onto an application to upload it. Not worth the trouble IMO.

I've been using this on a limited basis for a while now and haven't found any issues yet. Granted, I use it mostly for web clippings and the occasional note or photograph, but it's been good so far. It's important to note that this doesn't work the best as a standalone mobile app. It's much better when used with the Windows, Mac, or even web interface as well.

The latest version of Evernote, currently an invitation-only beta, gives users more options than ever before to create and find their memories - a Windows version, Mac version, Web version, Windows Mobile version, Mobile Web version, browser web page clippers, and more. All clients can be synchronized to one another via the web, ensuring that anything created in one place is accessible from all others.
  • Access notes across multiple platforms: Windows, Mac (OS X 10.5), Web, Windows Mobile, Mobile Web Browser;
  • Full synchronization across all platforms;
  • Powerful image recognition and search for printed and handwritten text in images;
  • Email and MMS snapshots and text from your mobile phone to your personalized Evernote email address;
  • Windows and Mac clients allow local-only notebooks, which will not synchronize with the Evernote Service.

As for pictures, when I upload them from my PPC I don't worry about naming them since in most cases the text recognition will work for immediate searches until sometime later when I can add notes from either the web or windows interface. Example, I uploaded a picture then a few seconds later searched on "MPH" and the picture displayed just from the text on the speedometer. No need to name it or add anything else for it to be immediately searchable.

I've also had successful searches on the mobile from clips I added from the desktop or web. In this case just searched on "mojito" for each.

One of the best parts it that it automatically includes a link in the note to the original web page where the note was created so you can easily return there.

I'm sure it is capable of a lot more than I've been using it for so far, but I do find the cross platform notes useful and the web clipping has been great.

this app looks like it's very similar to MS OneNote..
