Voice Recog

If you ask me... microsoft should have included a Speech-to-text / Speech Command engine with Every Mobile OS they have had. In 95 I had a 100MHz Pentium that ran speech recog software.. granted it wasn't fast(which made it unusable)... but it was accurate.

nikki2beeps 11-01-2007 01:30 AM

"Pretty sweet" this thing is amazing. For anyone that is already using voice command and IDtransfer if you say start live search, then start audio, then hit the left soft key titled speak you can search from your bt headset. Once opened to start a new search all you have to do is hit the left soft key again. Works really well. All I have to do is say chinese food and it lists all the chinese rest. close to my searched location. Still playing with it but now I really wish I had bt gps or internal gps enabled device.

I am unable to type with my keyboard in the live search bar. is anyone else experiencing this. I get the function commands.

Help With Live Search

Hi everyone. When I attempt to use live search with my keyboard, everything is coming out with numbers like if I was holding the function key. Is there anyone that know how to fix this?

CozBoogie 11-01-2007 11:59 AM

You probably want to start with this thread:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=2481

and then move on to the Titan forum for more info.

Okay damn.

I've never used WLS before... but I installed dcd's custom 1.5.0 and decided to give it a go. Downloaded it and installed it.

Damn.

The voice recognition feature is spot on. I ordered Chinese food from a new restaurant and it took me less than half the time it would have if I had searched google from my PC and manually typed the number in.

I tried a number of different searches with the voice recognition and the only one it had a problem with was my fault - I said Sprint PCS instead of Sprint.

Updated Windows Live Search Voice Commands

I updated to the latest Live Search yesterday (the one with movies and gas) and they now have an option for voice commands does anyone know what they are? Tried to say some but every time I said something it would say it can't recognize my command.

CozBoogie 01-23-2008 01:28 PM

You might start with this thread here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ht=live+search

Additionally, the voice feature is for input of addressess, businesses, cities, etc.

You say something like "Seattle, Washington" and it'll take you to the Seattle map. From there you can say something like "Starbucks" and it'll list the Starbucks.

Hope that helps.

Coz

Part 2:

As far as entering addressing on the choose location screen, that is how it must be done for now (think of the search box as a "What" and the Choose Location as "Where"). This will change in future.

It's worth noting that the speech grammars are contextual - i.e. they are based on the search and geocode data, they are not generic English grammars. This means you'll get better recognition overall, but may occasionally find something won't be recognised no matter how hard you try - the grammar just doesn't have a match!

One thing about the What/Where was a bit misleading - you can speak both a what and a where simultaneously, e.g. "pizza in Redmond, Washington" (use "in" or "near" as a separator to help the parser). This doesn't work for text input (yet).

Can someone post the latest Live Search .cab???

My downloads are working too great with the BETA 3.27.00 radio so I can't download the .cab from MS. I did a search and only found an old version cause it's asking me to update but the download of course keeps failing, lol.

Can someone please post the lastest .cab of Microsoft Live Search?

Thanks!

Yeah I like the weather. I have weather on my HTC panel of coarse. But this is nice if you are on the road and don't want to change city's or don't really know exactly where you are. I also really like the upcoming events near you in the collections section. I have really liked Live search and use it a lot. I have to say this is one thing microsoft has done better than google.

love love love this app! if they added turn by turn voice prompts it would rival the tom tom's and other heavy hitters you have to pay for!

thanks for the update...

Yep, voice prompts would be fantastic. If it had the voice prompts TT6 would be deleted off my phone.

(Mods - perhaps a thread title change could be arranged? - thx)

Re: Live Search Update Thread - v2.5 - update 5/16/2008

I have also posted this directly at a seemingly official MS site, but I think my chances of getting a helpful response are better here...

I live in a densely populated county with many local movie theaters. When I search for movies using the Live Search Movies icon on my Sprint Touch, the theater results are within my state, but none are in my county. One result is over 100 miles away.

Toolbar searches for "movie" and my location work fine, and searches using other icons work fine - Categories, Map, Directions, Traffic, Gas Prices, Collections, Web, and Weather give me localized information. It's just the Movies icon that does not work. Can I re-set or clear out whatever default information the icon link is using?

Re: Live Search Update Thread - v2.5 - update 5/16/2008

They're both good... though I prefer WLS... but when it comes right down to it, Sprint Nav, with its automatic traffic rerouting, is well worth the money...

Re: Live Search Update Thread - v2.5 - update 5/16/2008

I second that. Live search right now is the better app simply for the reason being that it gives you real time distance count down in miles to the next turn, then updates itself with information for the next up coming turn.

Googlemaps does not do this. You can see where you are relative to the map but once you get to a turn you have to click the "Next" button to see information for the next turn.

I also like the gas price feature on WLS as well as the movie info. WLS has alot of features that are very well integrated. The only thing that would make this the PERFECT app would be voice turn by turn instructions, and have the map always facing north in the direction you are driving.

Re: Live Search Update Thread - v2.5 - update 5/16/2008

The only thing that Google Maps has that WLS does not is a Transit option, you can get the time the train or bus is going to show up. That is only good if you use Public Transportation, other then that WLS is way better then google.
