Download & Cache Google Maps?
I am planning a trip this summer to the virgin islands and would like to have some maps of the area on my newly GPS'd mogul. I would rather not have to use roaming data to download those maps with google maps. Is there a way to expand or save the cache of an island in google maps so I can access it without connecting to the internet? Thanks in advance.

Re: Download & Cache Google Maps?
well you can use a gps software now that you have integrated gps but I'm not sure if it will cost you roaming since it's an a-gps....
Otherwise, you can try "mgmaps", it's a java program that let you use stored maps for google. works very well |
Re: Download & Cache Google Maps?
It's not A-GPS. The GPS will function without any data access as long as you have software with maps stored.

Well, yes and no. It's *capable* of AGPS, but I don't think that's turned on by default. Locating satellites and getting a fix is quicker using assistance (that's the benefit of AGPS), but communication with a tower is not necessary. The GPS works fine with the phone turned off or out of communication range. I haven't checked the registry with the release ROM, but in the beta version AGPS was turned off by default in the registry. |

Thanks for the replies, I'll give mgmaps a try.
