Picmail Email App Idea

Soooo, since Sprint is being uncool I had an idea.

I mean we have always been able to email pictures to a persons mobile text message box, but it takes a lot of work AND you have to know the carriers textmessage email domain (i.e. mobilenumber@blah.verizon.sprint.blah.com). Now, there are lists of these for all the carriers floating around so it got me thinking....

Would it be possible to create a simply picture file browser that when you select a photo it brings up a list of your contacts and when you select a contact it asks you what Carrier they are using, and then opens up a new email and inputs their mobile number with the appropriate carrier phone email?

I mean, you still have to off the top of your head generally know what carrier your friends are on so maybe its a dumb idea but who knows, just throwin it out there.

And maybe a really good developer can figure out how to add a "Send this picture by email..." to the context menu of the regular file explore anyways.

Sounds like a good idea!!!

This sure would make things a lot easier.

The program could just send the file to all carriers at once. Only one carrier will actually accept the email, because only a single carrier has the valid phone number. No need to select a carrier before you choose send.

geeks get to work!

It is amazing how many of us want crap like this, and know absolutely nothing about implementing it. It is really funny and I would love to have it.

Plus if you sent a lot of pictures to non sprint people but the message always hit Sprints servers it would cause a noticeable increase of traffic and probably flags generated. If they found out that they were getting it from no MMS on PPC then they might actually right the error. Probably not but it never hurts to be optimistic.

or sprint could just play nice and unleash it with software upgrades to all devices. . .

sprint needs to just stop being stupid and allow pic mail on ppc's verizons have it why not sprints? its hard for me to argue that spring has the best phones and service when people with a 1 dollar phone can send pics and i cant!

True but lets face it, that would be like convincing the Bush administration to pull all of the troops out of Iraq, we would love to see miracles happen, but not in our lifetime unfortunately.

Actually, this is a pretty good idea..
I posted this idea over at the WMExperts MortScript Developers area. Mortscript has done a ton! Maybe it can do this too!

quick question... i'm not an expert or anything, but dont whenever you send an email to a carrier that doesn't exist you get an error email back saying that it wouldnt send? because if that is the case i wouldnt like to receive 3 emails for every one that i send. that being said. i would love to have it automatically ask what is the carrier instead of having to type it in everytime or editing all of my contacts with their phone emails

yeah i have verizon and honestly the email they have u set up takes forever to send ... always gotta wait 5 minutes for the send/receive to take place and if its an important email u dont nkow if they willl get it on time ... one email took 2 days for it to go through for me its ridiculous ... so it would be great if the geeks could create a faster email app as well that would maybe replace the one on the today screen with a faster one
