I stopped using Octro after I realized I wasn't getting AOL im's randomly during the day with no indication as to connectivity loss or any other problems.

Certain messages were sent from my friends, but they never showed up on my end. Messages before and after the ones not received would send properly though.

So basically, it was randomly dropping certain messages for no apparent reason.

yeah, last night I had something about "could not verify license".

Haven't tried today. I imagine just a hiccup on their servers.

FWIW, I emailed Octro about some other issues (and they're responsive as ever)

- Octro does not show up in SPB Mobile Shell (for use in a tab)
- The notification icon does not "stick" when a new message comes in

They said they'll look into both. Personally, I'd like to see a "fuller" plugin with online contacts, etc. for use in SPB Shell or just as an option for those who want more (like IM+).

Also, re: SMS Relay (like Verichat) it doesn't look too promising at this point, or rather it's more complicated since they'd need to force people through their own customer Jabber servers.

Should we put a poll up for that feature?
(to show interest/disinterest?)

Personally, it was the best thing about Verichat since it saved battery life (It works by keeping you "online" only on their server. When you get an IM, it relays it via SMS to your device, waking it up and mimicking an incoming message. Once you accept, it re-establishes a direct connection to the server. Since you are not live-connected when idle, this saves on data transmission, which means much better battery life.).

Now, I'd be willing to pay extra for that service. Others?

I agree with you Mal. If we need to make a poll, lets do it. I find Octro better already in its beta versions than IM+ in its released versions. I just hope the final release is as good as I expect.

lol, I'm tempted to put up a poll, OTOH it seems you and I are the only ones interested

We'll see. And yes, Octro is much better than IM+, which has some annoying quirks.

Haha, two is a start. We can be the leader!!
