Does anyone know which is better? Sprite backup or SPB? The sprite one claims it will back up your data even with things like ROM changes.
Do people just move the executable back up file onto their PC by just going to my computer....storage disk and copying it to their desktop? or am I supposed to copy that backpack thing? Thanks

Personally, I use SPB, but I have heard very good things about Sprite (being free from Palm does a lot to influence using!!!!) as well!!

I keep the executable backup on my storage card, and PC. You can move it to your PC the way you mentioned, or via Activesync. Also, by 'backpack' did you mean the unpacker ? If so, that is mainly for going through the files within the backup on your PC. I guess this is a nice feature, just not one I have ever utilized, so I would go with an 'optional' as to whether you need it or not.

P.S. SPB will save ROM changes as well, I have a few that have carried over from backups from ages ago LOL!!!!

Thanks for your reply. I think the biggest thing keeping me from using the SPB was that when I update my phone, that may be an issue. If you say it is no big deal, then I will use the SPD. Thanks!!!

Just one thing...in 'update' do you mean updating the ROM, or your data on the phone? I would read the update info they give you carefully, I know some advise against using a backup at all, or some (like the last VZW 1.22), do not affect the data/apps on the phone, so you don't need a backup.

I wouldn't want to lead you in the wrong direction!!

PIM Backup

I use Sprite Backup whenever I put new Roms or programs on, and then use PIM for everyday, that way I am not clogging my card with a lot of MB files for backup...
I think u should be able to go in and select what is being backed up, same as Sprite....

I just got PIM and the user manual says you can save the backup file as text so you can edit on your pc. It says to uncheck the binary backup box that it will save it this way.
The box is unchecked and it is saving as a .pib file and I can't find anyway to open it on my pc.
The manual also calls the .pib a zip file, but I've tried a few unzip utilities and they don't recognize it, any ideas?
