Keep the screen off in my pocket
Couldn't find anything for this with a search...
How can I prevent the screen from turning on automatically for any reason, especially calls and texts? |

BTW, moved this to the software forum so others can help as well :) |
Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
In that case, are there any other options for preventing my pants from messing with my phone when a call or text comes in? Often, I miss calls because I bump "mute" just in time to miss the ring, and I've deleted texts and changed settings in the process of getting the phone out of my pocket.

When a call comes it, it supersedes any window and you will always have the same issue if you accidentally press things in your pocket :( |
Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
S2U2 has a setting for "slide to answer". It requires you to slide so a bump is very unlikely to do anything. I'd give it a whirl and see what you think. LOTS of setting options to experiment with. You can also disable the 5 second delay. I've got mine set to lock on waking so there are no accidents.

Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
His stock tp2 already has slide to answer so the s2u2 slide to answer is not needed

Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
there is an app called lock device....this would help you use your power button (button on top that you use to bring the screen back from sleep) to lock the phone using the default wm6.5 lock
i usually presss that button before putting it in my pocket |

Is there a way to make it come on automatically when the screen goes black? |
Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
change the setting in s2u2 to lock on screen going off

Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
i_m_jughead's answer is your answer, Skywarp (the "Lock Device" program). I use that program, and it adds the functionality you're needing to the pre-existing wm lock screen (the one you access with the end call button).

Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket

Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
So, I read up on how the screen lock program is supposed to work (which turns out is what I wanted), and mine was not doing it right at all. When I got a call or text, it would unlock and stay unlocked. So, if I missed a call, it would go "back" to the phone app and I would often end up pocket dialing the caller right back from the history. And, as with texts, I would often pull out my phone to find it on some settings page (usually time zone change).
I rebuilt my phone (it was a good time to, anyway), and the lock screen works properly now (re-locks after missed call, stays locked for texts). The screen is obviously still on for some time afterwards, but it stays locked. I think I'll look into that "lock device" app, as well as S2U2. Thanks guys. |
Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
does this HD2 cab work well with 6.5 screen lock
|
Re: Keep the screen off in my pocket
That proximity cab didn't work on mine.
LockDevice, however, is working wonders for me. I'm not going to bother with s2u2 at this point; I think my phone is complete (and I only needed to start one thread on my own! w00t!). I wasn't sure if LockDevice would work at all (Verizon build with no end-key-long-press customizing), but it does the job brilliantly without any delay between screen-off and screen-lock. Keep up the good work, everybody. |
