Bolt 2.1 Browser with some flash support

3 Attachment(s)
I just tried out the latest browser from Bitstream.(Bolt 2.1). The browser is actualy pretty fast! Try it out.
I have attached the Java cab also below.

BOLT is a free downloadable browser that offers an uncompromised browsing experience even on lower-end mobile phones.

Rather than offering a simplified, mini version of the Internet, BOLT provides users with a fast, efficient, feature-rich way to enjoy full PC-style web pages and rich media applications on all levels of mobile devices.

Built on Bitstream's ThunderHawk browsing technology, BOLT is the result of 5+ years experience developing mobile browsers that optimize usability, speed and performance on resource-constrained systems with limited memory, processing power and screen space.

Here are some key features of "BOLT":

LIGHTNING FAST MOBILE BROWSING:

· Loads complete web pages in seconds
· Patented navigation and display technologies get you where you're going faster

WATCH. CONNECT. SURF:

· View streaming videos from sites like YouTube, MySpace and Google
· Enjoy full desktop PC-style Facebook and social media functionality
· BOLT Widgets beta allows streamlined access to web apps
· Tweet directly from BOLT while you browse
· Shop securely

UNCOMPROMISED WEB EXPERIENCE:

· Full desktop PC-style browsing on all types of mobile phones
· Web content is never reformatted, repurposed, or removed
· Browse any site with the best page rendering available

Requirements:

· MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.0

What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]

· Support for Tabbed browsing
· Facebook integration - post messages, links or URLs from any page displayed in BOLT directly to your Facebook account without navigating away from the currently viewed page.
· Support for HTML5 audio
· Support for HTML5 video
· Expanded streaming flash video support. Newly-supported sites include: bbc.co.uk; mtv.com; svtplay.se; hungama.com; bollywoodhungama.com; nick.com
· Support for Facebook chat and other web-based chat apps.
· Support for YouTube web apps – search and view videos directly in BOLT
All versions here:

Thanks man. The layout is pretty much the same. I really like the jbed cab provided by the op! Thanks for that. Biggest thing for me is it's finally saving passwords. I always liked the rendering of Bolt. looks very clean. Latest Bolt is pretty fast as before. Downloads seems a little goofy though. Not really working for me but I tried saving to storage so maybe to device will work better. Actually downloads dont work at all. Trying another jbed now. There are also a good bit of security screens as well. Overall very nice for sites like ppcg and fast browsing.

Honestly Im still using mini 4.2 final a good bit since mini beta5 for windowsmobile still doesnt work that well for me personally. Also, om5 beta seems really slow downloading files. Also, the other browser posted today uzard is not working for me. looks like mach5 changed names because the layout is identical.

If you go to start/settings/system, and open the Java app. Go to menu/actions/security an change the settings you can stop the security popups.

Yes, on mine when I click on a download, I choose "save to" then choose E: (Storage card). Then it will show your storage card folders. Kinda flaky though.

For straight browsing, It's improved but downloading is really really slow. UCWeb layout is horrible but downloading is great. Opera mini/mobile still rules the roost overall as far as I'm concerned.

Hey, I hear ya. I think its pretty fast. Im still waiting for a REAL browser to emerge. Every browser to date is stiil missing functionality in one way or another, and its frustrating! The holdup is mainly the hardware specs of devices. Hopefully with the increasing hardware specs, data network upgrades, and flash 10.1 , hopefully we will see browser that we will all be finally satisfied with!

Re: Bolt 2.1 Browser with some flash support

Im hoping someone can help me. whenever I Install bolt, all is well with the initial launch. But after I close it and try to reopen the browser, I get an error, and it wont load. I have to manually update it within the java app which kinda works. Well most everything works but I totally lose all ability to play videos like I could during the initial launch of bolt. weird and frusterating :(
Derek

im using the java client esmertec 20080912.5.1 vga
