Re: World Cup App?

You have to manually input the results of every match in order for it to work. I was expecting an application that will download data from the internet and populate all this information automatically :(

I had a feeling that's the way it worked since the details say no connection is needed.

I found this program from Resco. Seems like it's just what I'm looking for. Unfortunately it's in German and costs about $8.50 US.

I installed the demo on my TP2 and it runs fine. Been looking for an English version but can't find it. I'm not sure if I'd buy it anyway. $8.50 for only 3 weeks use seems a little steep. I'd rather just visit a couple of different mobile sites for scores and news and spend the $8.50 on beer.

Awesome..

Ummm... Yes what? This is the same app mentioned in post #10. Also, your link leads to a free version of the app. I suggest you remove it before the mods do.

That doesn't look bad. I might spend four bucks for it. There's supposed to be an update for it soon. I'll see what's new then decide if I want it or not.

It looks like XDA pulled the plug on the above thread. Someone complained that it was against forum rules because it involved the advertising of software, even though the author of the program was not the OP. He was just answering a question and mentioned his app.

Anyway, a few World Cup programs have popped up the past few days. The one referenced above can be found in the What's New section of Windows Marketplace. It's World Cup 2010 by IJP Consulting Ltd.

I've bought it and I'd say it's worth the money. It lists all the matches, breaks down the groups, will update the points for each group and give the match results. It also gives you the latest World Cup news. It only gives you the headlines, but the author may be putting out an update with the full news story. The program was already updated once with added venue pics.

Here's the Marketplace link...

Glad you liked it :) Thanks for the kind words - there were lots of updates in the end (with lots of new features - live statistics during a match being probably the main one).

I've decided to make it free (seeing as there are only a few games left):

If you like it please join my new facebook group (search RedLemurApps on facebook) and you'll get notifications of any new apps.

Cheers!
