Opera Mini 5 Final Released

Opera Mini 5 Final also released.

http://my.opera.com/operamini/blog/2...-final-is-here

Go to http://m.opera.com on your phone.

Did anything change in the WM version from the beta though?

The about opera page still says Version 5.0.3521 Mar 3 2010.

Looks like the Beta tag was removed from the title bar, but I don't see any other differences.

Do I not have the final version or is it really just the same build as the beta?

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

still seems like the same opera mini to me. same boot screen and everything. no noticeable performance improvements. the cab file is named mini5wm_2.cab, so i think it is still beta 2 out there for wm devices. opera 10 mobile had easily identifiable changes.

edit: it still says "Opera Mini 5 beta" in the Start Menu and the Mini 5 download link isn't posted yet for Windows Mobile on the Opera site to download the file from your PC. I think the Mini 5 beta is still out there for WM. Perhaps it'll be updated shortly (hopefully)

Here's a link to it. downloaded it directly to the phone using m.opera.com, so can't post it right now.

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

The cab I got from m.opera.com was without the "2" at the end, same as was just posted above me.

Still, it's the Mar 3 build which was what Beta 2 was.

I think it's the same file (except for the beta tag removed) and they just called it final.

Does anyone have a newer build in help->about?

exactly, that is what I am saying the one on their site is the same one so there is no final yet posted. strange. even the icon for me still says opera mini5 beta, March 3rd build version 5.0.3521

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

i think the _2 was just opera 10 mobile's way of appending to the filename since the file already existed. so in short, we're still beta (WM users)

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

We definitely don't have a new build. I installed the Java final and it's clearly a little different than beta 2.

haha, that's funny. He didn't say you need java to run Opera Mini, just that the update hasn't hit WM yet

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

builds number says it all... the wm mini 5 has not been updated, just check help>about.
plus, on the press release it says this:
Quote:

Availability

Opera Mini 5 is available on all Java-based and BlackBerry phones, as well as Android and Windows Mobile (both in beta only) phones. Opera Mobile 10 is available on Windows Mobile and Symbian S60-based mobile phones.

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

Where can I download the .jar (signed) version from? I don't want it auto installed, I just want to keep the .jar file.

Opera Mini 5 Final (not beta) +jbed
http://i1003.hizliresim.com/2010/3/21/3589.jpg
http://i1003.hizliresim.com/2010/3/21/3602.jpg

install 2009VGAJavaAndOperaMini5Beta2(if not installed)
install opera-mini-5.0.18635-advanced-en (final)
run opera mini final and exit java

Copy the file \windows\appdb\selector.utf to your PC
(make sure backup this file first in case something goes wrong!)
Remove read-only attribute
Extract the file “sign_operamini.exe”
from my zip to the same folder and run it.
It will patch the selector.utf and create a backup too.
Now replace the selector.utf file in the pocket PC with the patched.
Create the shortcut manually using any text editor. Shortcuts have the file extension ".lnk". So, for example, lets create a file in a text editor, and save it with the file name OperaMini.lnk, the contents of the file should look similar to this :

Code:

28#"\windows\jbed.exe" -run s0_

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

Why not just install the signed version instead of going through the other stuff?

Also, my signed version appears to be 5.0.18741, which is newer than your version here.

This should be the version I'm using and it is signed.

Re: Opera Mini 5 Final Released

Thanks. Well, how do you use this program? How did you overcome the shortcut and security questions?
