Might be old news for some but I ran across this on the SPB website

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 5 Info (Almost here!)

it won't be out until q3 though. i think that's a good thing because i'm not so impressed by the changes so far. it's beenbumped up 1.5 versions, but the videos just show them boasting about the stupid carousel wheel. that shh isn't going to run right on devices less than the hd2. anyway they said it's incomplete now, so i hope they add more widgets. i do like the adaptive backgrounds though.

Kind of sucks for SPB since this release will coincide with WM7. Still, they'll likely get a lot of purchases from those of us who wait a while before switching.

FYI, there are videos of it in action.

Thanks for the video. Ok well thats not as cool as I thought it would be. Looks just like current version with a few small additions. I like it when the new 3d wheel thing locks up (hehe) (which I am convinced this is where the time was spent).

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 5 Info

I think the carousel is pointless. It is more of a look at this then something that is actually productive. It is a lot quicker to use the other option that lays out al of the pages in little screens if you really want to jump screens.....

I have given up on Mobile Shell and was hoping that version 5 would actually be a whole visual remake that it made it more exciting and better quality. Guess not.

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 5 Info

I have played with the carousel and found no use in it other than to show what the device and application are capable of doing. I would like to see further integration with their own product line, such as SPB Weather, and similar applications.

Yeah it's definitely not practical, but is definitely cool looking. Where I wish it was the default view was in contacts view. I could see it working for contacts and looking cool there. And while you can use it for contacts, there's no way to make it the default view.

Well, I've stopped using it because it doesn't have a decent - decent? kidding - it doesn't have any calendar widget. Just the stupid appointments thingumy that doesn't even allow you to hide days without appointments... Useless for me. (It looks good, though. But looks isn't everything - as in real life )
