The HD2 Blockbuster Video App

WMPowerUser reported that the new Blockbuster Video app on the HD2 will actually allow you to stream movies directly to your phone. Yup, no PC needed. And guess what? They’re right. I know cause I just installed it on a Pure:) So shortly after their reporting it was extracted by MichaelMyers of XDA. Upon installation you’re greeted to an upgrade (to v 2.16). You can see that the app states “search our catalog, manage your queue, download videos to your device and find a store”. At this point you can browse movies but I don’t see a way to actually get movies. Also, some of the tabs are actually links to the web. Like the ‘find store’ tab actually brings you to their website to enter your location. Anyway, you may want to give it a shot to see if you can get further than I did.

This would be pretty epic. Does Blockbuster do trials like Netflix?

the cab installed fine, but when its done updating, it just sits there. the download bar gets to 100%, and nothing happens after. :(

Can't use it anyway on my Omnia since it's VGA or WVGA. I see "BLOCK" on my screen.

While this is a great app for the HD2, it's a shame the HD2 does not have TV Out capability. That would have really made this a fantastic app to have.

I had this problem on the Touch Pro too, and now the original shortcut doesn't open it either.

I have no problems installing or updating on my TP2.
Try to put this directly into your programs folder and open the EXE within. This is the updated version. If you can open it fine just copy the EXE to your start menu programs folder.

is this app suppose to let u stream movies to your phone? or download them only?

im on juggs rom and cab in op works fine plus it ota updates to new version.

I had the same problem- but I noticed at the bottom of the screen -after you run the .exe and go through the update process, there is a button you have to hit. Something like, "Run Now", or "Finish Installation", sorry- can't remember exactly. Did you see that down there?

Then you have to go into settings and enter a pin number. I went online to blockbuster to set up my "On Demand HD2" account and got my pin that way.

it updated for me, but nothing seems to work? i can scroll on the main page but when i click stuff nothing happens... can't even get into settings to set anything up. saw this problem on xda too. i tested before and after it was reported that it went live for the hd2 a few days ago.

The app is functioning for me except the most important part- it won't dl the videos. Has anyone been able to download a video? I tried with my free coupon code. First it tells me I am not connected to Wifi (so I connected over my computer). Then it just gives me an error message. Any one have any luck?

Here is a possible solution posted by Drellisdee in another thread...

I am to chicken to test it out. If someone had the gonads to try it -report back here how it worked for you.
