Any WM software to stream this particular radio station?

Trying to stream WAJR-AM out of Morgantown, WV to my Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 (running MalRom 6.5.3). I'd include the URL here but ppcgeeks.com says I don't have enough posts to include links (so much for being a newbie LOL!). Will tell you that "liquidcompass" and "silverlight" are part of the URL so perhaps it's an issue with one of those two components.

I can access WAJR's online stream fine on my desktop browser (IE or Firefox). However, trying to access it thru Opera 10, Skyfire, IE, etc. on the TP2 gives a "URL not found" error. Tried WunderRadio but it comes-up with an error message "Can not play URL" (actually most of the stations I tried accessing thru WunderRadio came-up with that error message).

Big bummer is I used to be able to access WAJR on my old Touch Pro running NFSFAN's TP Rom using his custom Opera build. Simply having no luck now on my TP2 (I even installed NFSFAN's custom Opera build on the TP2 but it gave me a URL error too).

Anyone have any ideas on how to access this particular radio station on my TP2?

I tired it on Kinoma for you (which pulls their listings from tuned.mobi) A lot of their nationally syndicated shows may be accessible via the stream from another station though. I'm in Alabama, but routinely listen to some nationally-syndicated sports shows from a station coming out of Texas because my station's stream only streams their local shows and has dead-air for the syndicated shows.

Grogck... did you have any luck accessing WAJR with Kinoma? I don't have that software but I'd look into purchasing it if you were able to access WAJR's stream through it.

I want that station's stream for their local programming -- not the nationally-syndicated stuff. WAJR is in Morgantown, WV where West Virginia University in located. WAJR serves as the flagship station for all Mountaineer Sports programming, so that's the stuff I'm really after!

If WAJR's stream could be played over Windows Media Player, I'd be in good shape. I think it's the fact that they're doing it through this "liquidcompass.net" that's giving me the problem that I don't have an answer for :-(

Have you tried a media player like TCPMP or Pocket Player? Here's what PP says:

>>>>>
Pocket Player can stream Internet radio from any MP3 (Shoutcast), Ogg (Icecast), or ASX (Windows Media) source. Use the Menu > Open > URL from the main screen to directly enter a URL for streaming. Alternatively, the media browser features a Web Guide command that links to several Internet radio directories as well as a searchable list o Shoutcast stations and genres.
Note that desktop Internet radio station websites that use a Flash‐based player will not work when entered into Pocket Player. The Open URL screen expects to receive the direct URL to the radio stream, which is usually hidden from such sites.
<<<<<

Since you had success with TP, the Flash warning seems to not apply, unless the ROM you had happens to somehow provide Flash support. Anway, PP has a 30 day free trial version ($20 to purchase) here:

Mr. Goodtunes... thanks for the reply. I'm at work now so I'll have to wait until I get home to give Pocket Player a try. Will do that though and see how it works. Very much appreciate the recommendation.

As far as I know, the WAJR radio stream does NOT use a Flash-based player, because like I said, I was able to access it on my old Touch Pro through NFSFAN's custom-version of Opera 9.5 which -- to my knowledge -- has no Flash support.

No joy on PocketPlayer :-( It simply won't play the URL for the WAJR stream. I'm on my 10th post now and ppcgeeks requires that I have that many to post any type of URL, so I'm throwing away this post and will post the URL in my next post...

OK, here's the WAJR-AM streaming URL...

http://den-a.plr.liquidcompass.net/s...pe=silverlight

If anyone can get that to load and play in ANY Windows Mobile software, I've got a case of your favorite beer, my firstborn child and my never-ending gratitude to offer LOL! Seriously, I'd be very appreciative if anyone can help... this has got me stumped bigtime :-(

Try a program called URL Sniffer. It will detect the actual URL were the data is coming from. I used it for 105.7 the Fan in Baltimore which uses a web based player.

I tried the link you gave on Kinoma, Pocket Player, Core Player, & Resco Radio. None worked. I went to the WAJR site and tried to pull the pls from the listen live button. However, this is one of the many sites that want you to listen to their broadcast in a stand alone window player. I am curious how you got the url. I have requested from other sites the actual pls, which you can edit through note pad to pull an actual url that will play in any of the softwares I listed above.

So, 1. How did you get the url? 2. How did it work in previous phones you had?

gprimr... googled URL Sniffer. Took me to a site with tons of programs for ripping and recording streams. These all appear to be desktop apps though. Are any of them for Windows Mobile? OR are you saying to use one of these programs to find the actual URL and THEN just plug that into WMP on my TP2 and access the radio station that way?

Slepewoker... my geek level is somewhat low, so you've lost me on some of this but I think you may be onto something here. Here's how I got that URL (which may be totally wrong). Like you said, clicking the "Listen Live" button on my PC (in Firefox) opens this "liquidcompass" stand-alone window player. WAJR plays just fine in this window on my PC. I simply copied the URL for that windowed-player (top left corner of the window). THAT'S the URL that I posted above and is the one that I've typed into WMP, Pocket Player, etc. that I can't get to work.

You lost me on the "actual pls" and editing through Notepad to get an actual URL that WILL play in the above software. Are you saying that the URL I copied isn't the "actual" URL? Is there some "hidden URL" that if I'm able to extract will play in WMP or any of this other software? If so, that sounds like the answer. Just don't know how to get to it!

Oh, and as far as how I got it to play on my old TP, I'm not certain. Was running NFSFAN's Rom and his custom build of Opera and it opened the link in WMP on that. No idea how however :-(

Did the same here, and then right clicked in Firefox to select "View Page Source" because doing so often shows a PLS, ASX, M3U, or even an MP3 that can be used in almost any player. No such shows. Instead, it has tons of Java Scripts. You probably already tried enabling Java in your Opera settings, right?

Tap ^ (lower right corner on my old v9.5), then Settings, Advanced, and you should see a checkbox to Enable JavaScript. This may require closing Opera and re-starting.

EngravEEr, unfortunately, what you got is not the actual url. That is the reason that it is not working. That url that you have is specific for the stand alone player.

A pls is basically a playlist with url listed within. You can see the urls contained in any pls by opening the pls with notepad or any other text editor. There have been some streams that I could not get. I contacted the site provider, explained what I needed and for what, and they provided me with the pls. You may want to try that. Try wajr@wvradio.com.

Go to http://streamingradioguide.com in your phone browser and search for WAJR in the Station Search, click on "Test Stream" and "Let's Do It" and it brings up a link that played fine in Opera 9.5. It did take it a minute to load and played an ad before it started streaming though.

Yeah, I used URL Sniffer to Sniff 105.7 the fan's website to find where the actual stream was coming from, then put that address into SPB Radio.

Re: Any WM software to stream this particular radio station?

Funny, I live in Morgantown and spend alot of time in Martinsburg.

I used to be able to access WAJR on my on my old 6700. I think I did it through IE, but I'll have to try to remember the site. Maybe LisaT96 has already found you a solution though.

Edit: I think it was WVAQ and not WAJR. They also cover the Eers. In case you're interested in that one, you should be able to listen at www.thestreamcenter.com

And you might also look into radiotime.com. WAJR is on there. Good Luck!
