Gmail/Gmaps: Java Application Tutorial (Update: 11/21)

How to Install Google Mail/Google Maps Java Application for your WM5 Device

This will allow you to install and run with a single shortcut the newly released Gmail Java application.

Works on the ppc-6700 and 700wx and presumably any WM5 device.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: 11/21

- Added Gmaps.jad (NEW!)
- Slimmed down files
- Added New Security Certificate (No more AirTime PopUp )
(thanks G-funkster )
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Directions

(1) Download the attached file: Java.zip
(**you must be logged in to see the file!**)

(2) Extact to your desktop or PPC directly

--> 2 folders bin and lib can go anywhere including SD
--> 1 file gmail.jad must go int your root directory (\ )

(3) Go to the bin folder and launch Emulator.exe

(4)
Click Install

(5) Type in gmail.jad and select / from the drop down list

For Google Maps, repeat same process but with Gmaps.jad instead!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS: How do I make a shortcut directly to Gmail instead of launching Emulator.exe every time?

Create your own shortcut from Emulator.exe then...

go into the shortcut's properties: Under target path, put " " for the target path, then add -Xjam:run=1 if gmail is the first program on the list, -Xjam:run=2 if it's the second program, etc. (thanks to jambaj0e at pdaphonehome for writing this!)

You'll need Resco Explorer to create the shortcut.

How do I use a CommandLine/Create a shortcut?

PLEASE READ HERE TO LEARN HOW!
http://www.vijay555.com/?Help:Command_Lines

Enjoy!
