thanks yes, i noticed, but... I noticed that it might be better overall if you have a VIP playlist which is 3$ a month, or does the VIP access not really matter much?

with this version I really dont think its necessary. coz even if you load a playlist from the VIP account you have to add each of the songs individually to the local playlist before you can play. ( unless I missed someway to do it )

might as well search for it and add it :). That said I have a paid account its only $3 for a month you can pay using paypal and cancel the subscription before the month runs out..

Re: [ REVIEW ] nanoGroove 1.0 – grooveShark client with Playlist support

I just purchased the app for $5.00.

So far this is what I have experienced.

-Sound quality much better and louder than the freeware groovefish app
-Very user friendly
-Doesn't lock up or freeze
-Can add as many songs as you want and queue them up as you please
-Album art on most songs is nice to have
-Can hit the power button to turn the phone off and music continues *HUGE PLUS*
-Very finger friendly -finger scroll up or down- i had problems with the freeware app picking songs as I tried to scroll or struggling to scroll in general
-All songs play - freeware app 70% of the songs didn't play and would remain on "requesting stream"

WHAT its MISSING

-Saved song playlist - an app that cost money should have this small feature or at least a recent search *10 previous songs played*
-When you are listening to a song and a call comes through, the song should be paused and restored if the call is ignored or when you are done with the call *you have to open the app and click play in the player currently*
-Navigation pad should be compatible with the scroll list so you don't have to use your fingers if you don't want to

If I find out anything else I will let you guys know.

IMO, its worth the 5 bucks especially if the developer keeps making improvements..just hope for an auto update function when that happens.

I'm just about to chuck out the money, does anyone know if this covers the cost for future updates as well?

good question. I like the app so far and am about to drop the $5 too- but I'll wait until next week when they annouce the 10 free app winners (call me cheap:))

I just sent them an emailing asking about the upgrade issue.
Heck, I was going to pay for a year of Panadora but this Grooveshark is so much better I might go here instead.

Re: [ REVIEW ] nanoGroove 1.0 – grooveShark client with Playlist support

Been using the app for the last hour straight and its allowing me to create playlists all over grooveshark and access them through nanogroove. I am not a VIP member and I never was a VIP member. Application is amazing and worth the 5 dollars easy. Application would be absolutely essential if the developer could add the radio feature from grooveshark. I would like to see him allow you to simply tap a song and start playing it after searching instead of having to hit the arrow to add it to the "player" and then go down to view, and then go up to player, and then press play on the song.

I was amazed that someone answered my email about upgrades on a Sunday.

Anyway, for the person that asked- they said minor improvements 1.0 to 1.1 etc are free upgrades but going from 1.0 to 2.0 will require a small upgrade free.

If we are paying $5, how much smaller can the fee get?

I apologize in advance for a possibly silly question. But what are the differences between the trial version and the paid version? Is it just that the 5 minute limit is removed? Thanks in advance.

Yes Sir, that's the only difference. I paid for the application this afternoon and found it to be a worthy upgrade from the GrooveFish application. I just hope the developer doesn't abandon it when something breaks.

There's no restrictions on the freeware demo version NanoGroove. If you can tolerate the application closes after 5 minutes. That's enough time to listen to a song, but like previous post have said, without the time limit you can select a bunch of songs and they'll queue up within the application and stream back to back.

I still think this whole GrooveShark thing is illegal since you can get any song you want for free.

I guess I should have been more clear. I've never done this since it's probably illegal. [-X

There are programs that allow you to record whatever you hear from your PC speakers, so you can record any song you listen to on GrooveShark.

You can record anything you listen to out of your pc speakers with this program...

I've been told you need to crank up the system volume to get a high enough recording level.

I am sorry, what is the difference between grooveshark and the free Internet radio you are promoting in your signature? Are you trying to make the argument that selecting the songs you want to listen to makes it illegal, but its legal when someone else selects the songs for you?

No, you miss the point. With radio, commercial or otherwise, you could always record the songs that were played. There's nothing to prevent that unless recording devices are outlawed. But you are limited to what the station plays, low quality, talk overs, etc., and you have to wait for the station to play the song you want.

But with GrooveShark you can choose what you want to record. You can play and record an entire album and not have to pay for it. If GrooveShark allowed you to download an actual mp3 file without paying for it that would clearly be illegal. But instead of downloading you stream the audio. Audio which can be recorded and saved as an mp3. It's just an extra step for the end user to get an illegal mp3.

GrooveShark isn't providing the mp3, but the means to obtain it. I won't get into the legality of GrooveShark. It's still being debated over and I'm not a lawyer. But with GrooveShark a person is able to aquire just about any song they want without having to pay for it.

Great app. I paid the $5 and became a grooveshark 'VIP' member so it is a win-win for everyone.

Um, you can download the MP3 directly from grooveshark if you want, that is not in question. What is in question is the legality of streaming audio through nanogroove apparently. Somehow, you feel it is legal to listen to crappy sounding music that someone else has chosen, but is illegal to listen to good quality music that you have chosen.

Either way, it is certainly not illegal for any end user, and the legality of the service would only affect those running the grooveshark website. And what century are we living in where people are "recording" streaming audio with a program? I mean are you kidding me?

When did I say it was illegal to listen to music? I was questioning the legality of RECORDING the audio stream, not the listening of it. And please direct me to the link on GrooveShark where I can download FREE mp3s.

As far as the legality of GrooveShark itself, that's still up in the air. They just got sued again...

I hope this app/website doesnt go the way seeqpod did. Legal troubles I hear brought them down, and being bankrupt. Long live grooveshark :) And, from my point of view, this app isnt a whole lot different from saving youtube videos of songs, and playing them back later from a favorites folder.

Re: [ REVIEW ] nanoGroove 1.0 – grooveShark client with Playlist support

I think that this seems great in principle, but what happens if Grooveshark gets taken down? Additionally, since this is an application with a cost, and none of the revenue is going to Grooveshark, couldn't Grooveshark sue the maker for making a profit off of their intellectual property?
If it was free I would download without hesitation, but since it costs money I might save my 5 bucks for something else. I just have a bad feeling that Grooveshark will go down or this app will.

This work pretty good I just have to built up my playlist on GrooveShark. But it made my phone crash a few times and also my sound on my phone was gone for a bit, but after a couple of soft resets it fixed it.

Defiantly not worth 5$ :-\"

Re: [ REVIEW ] nanoGroove 1.0 – grooveShark client with Playlist support

I am sure no one cares... but i keep hearing about the precious $5 argument and "what if grooveshark goes down?". man i drop $5 on a venti mocha, it goes down and its gone in 10 minutes and i never get to use it again. I drop $5 on a double double and same thing. but they sure are good while you got em. so if i get to use nanogroove for the next two months and then "it goes down"- who really cares?

just saying....

Re: [ REVIEW ] nanoGroove 1.0 – grooveShark client with Playlist support

It looks like the developer's interpretation of being able to access your Grooveshark playlists is pretty pathetic. Yes, after a number of clicks to get there you can see your playlist. But to get there and actually play your songs: Start Nanogroove, choose Playlists from the menu, click the refresh button, select the playlist from the drop-down list, click on the arrow by EVERY song in your list that you want to play, choose Player from the menu, then click the icon next to the song you want to play. (I can't tell you what happens after the first song plays, since with the trial version after all this the app times out before one song can finish). This all wouldn't be quite so bad if it would save what I just did, but no. Next time you start Nanogroove - start again from step 1. Yes, you have to do this all again EVERY TIME. I haven't figured out why others are saying this app is so great??? :(:(:(

I wanna try this program, but the trail version seems pretty gimped. They should give you like 3 days of *unlimited* usage.

That's a good idea. I have purchased the app. Very good in that you can search for and play any song you want and populate a play list. But definitely could be better in respects to the player options.
