Access' NetFront 4.0 Browser Boosts Java Performance

Access recently made some information available about the next version of its NetFront browser for mobile devices. NetFront 4.0's major new feature is JavaScript performance that is 20 times faster than that of NetFront 3.5. This Java improvement, combined with the smoothed web page scrolling, animated web page zooming, and smooth panning and navigating around web pages, greatly improves the mobile browsing experience. Access says that it is making a six-month trial version of NetFront 4.0 available to Windows Mobile devices starting today, with other platforms to follow in the coming months. Access is also offering a new API for NetFront 4.0, which will let network operators and handset makers upgrade their wexisting catalog of NetFront 3.5 devices to NetFront 4.0 http://phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=5364

I can't access their download page right now. I guess they are updating it. I havn't used Netfront since my Mogul so it will be interesting to see what kind of improvements they made.

so far so good? it sucks. froze on me twice, got insufficient memory notices (it brought my RAM from 56% to 98% LOL!) and other errors, many pages don't load all the way, popups lead you away from pages (sites that have no prob in other browsers), terrible interface, can't click links, made me throw up a little. i can see why they keep attaching the term concept to their releases...

I agree with you 100%. When I first tried it, I was disappointed. However, once I decided to set a homepage(used XDA Control Panel because it was in my IE bookmarks) and restarted the speed was amazing. It is faster than skyfire and opera 10 beta 2u on my Tilt2. The only site I visit that gives me "Out of Memory" error is Digg.com. For some reason that site kicks the ass of every browser I've ever tried. Anyway, the only problem I've had is that it doesn't save the text and view settings I used. Pain in the butt to have to zoom and increase text size all the time.

Re: Access' NetFront 4.0 Browser Boosts Java Performance

so should I download this INSTEAD of the microsoft 3.5 compact frame network version? or are those 2 totally different programs? or would I be better off using the 3.5 since it sounds liek this isn't that stable? Also what exactly does this do? This isn't a browser is it? I read somewhere a while back that it says that I needed to download 3.5 to utilize some programs for my touch pro 2 but can't recall off the top of my head what specficially it was used for.

This is just a web browser. Not the net compact framework 3.5.
