Does a well designed Podcatcher App Exist for Windows Mobile HTC Diamond?
 

I can't find one that downloads subscribed podcasts over the air AND also has smart playlists that manage the downloaded files by automatically deleting old episodes when new podcast episodes become available to replace them and/or automatically deletes them after being played.

There are good ones for the iPhone, Blackberry and Andriod, but for Windows Mobile, I can only find clunky apps that require alot of manual file management.

Does anything exist?
Kinoma Play has a nice GUI, but it doesn't do smart playlists and is more designed for music, so podcast support isn't a major priority for them.

Does anyone know if Stitcher Radio will make a Windows Mobile app this year or ever? So far, they are making their app for everything else.

I tried RSS Hub for the last few weeks and after alot of fiddling it kind of partially works OK, but not very well at all. I still have to manually mess around with Windows Media Player to get it to update the library and recognize when new podcasts have been downloaded.
It isn't worth the effort. Every podcatcher is third rate and clunky compared to the podcatchers available for iPhone, Android and even a Palm Pixi!
Beyondpod was also disappointing, and they seem to have moved their focus to Android.
Looks like Windows Mobile is dying despite still currently having alot of market share remaining and developers have already moved on and left it behind.

I used to use a desktop podcatcher and have a smart playlist in WMP sync it with my phone. But I listen to a LOT of different podcasts and hated having all the space eaten away. Also I could never find one phone-based app that came even REMOTELY close to the podcasting experience I got out of the Zune so I eventually ditched them and went with Kinoma.

I personally find Kinoma's more ideal for podcasts than it is music actually as it bookmarks/remembers where you left off in an episode (which is a big deal for podcasts.) I also find that I love using their built in Guide to find all sorts of new podcasts and other streaming content that I may otherwise have never known about. It's great when you're not sure what you're in the mood for and they update it regularly. And of course their UI is arguably the best of any WM app out there.

The only potential downside from a podcasting standpoint is that it's not a podcatcher (i.e., going out and regularly downloading new episodes.) It just streams everything by default. At first I considered that a big knock, but then I realized I was always in a 3G coverage area for my daily life. And just streaming the episodes also freed up the concerns of having my Diamond's somewhat limited storage eaten up by tons of podcast episodes leaving me very little room for music (although I find I just stream a lot of radio from Kinoma now - probably even more than listening to my own playlists.) For times when I travel or am on the road and know I might have spottier EVDO coverage I can always just press-and-hold (effectively right-clicking) a specific episode(s) and download it to memory for uninterrupted playback.

I already tried Kinoma and it didn't work for me because of a massive missing feature. It doesn't do smart playlists.
I listen to podcasts while driving and I don't want to mess with setting up manual playlists of current episodes of several short podcasts. It groups the podcasts together in an inflexible way where after playing the most current episode it plays the next oldest episode of the same podcast instead of playing the newest episode of other subscribed podcasts.
Without that capability, it is useless to me.

Ahh I see what you're saying. I listen to my podcasts mostly while driving too, but honestly don't have much problem flipping back and forth between various podcasts within my favorites list as the newest episodes are always listed at the top anyway. After I'm finished listening to the newest episode of one I just back out of the current podcast, click another podcast feed from my favorites list, click the podcast at the top of the feed and that's it. The UI makes it quick and visually easy to see so it's not much worse than looking down to see the caller ID screen.

But if you're looking for the type of functionality where you just hit one button and don't mess with it again for the rest of your drive I'm not sure there's an option like that out there unfortunately.

BeyondPod can be set to delete files after they get too old or youg et a number of episodes downloaded.
