Better way to make a cab?

So I've looked around and searched and tried a few different applications. The best ones and most recommended seem to WinCE Cab Manager and QuickCab.

QuickCab is problematic, because it forces the install, and doesn't let the person choose where they want to install the cab, which is a big deal for a lot of folks. However, it allows you to import Directories into the project, which is great.

WinCE Cab manager has tons more functionality, including allowing you to choose where you want to install, BUT it doesn't allow you to import folders with file structures, which means you have to manually import EVERY SINGLE file, meaning for a program with scores of files and dozens of subfolders, it takes HOURS to create a cab.

Is there anything better out there? I basically want to have a program like WinCE Cab manager, but have it let me import folders, not just files.

if you use win ce cab manager and when you import files you can select the top file then scroll to the bottom file hold shift and select the bottom file it will import all the files in between and you can from there select or create new folders for the files to install to.

Yeah, but I have an install that is literally hundreds of files and scores of folders. Even doing that it's going to take forever. It's absurd I can't just select the folder and have all subfolders and files be added.

I just did the drag drop function wince cab manager has and it will do exactly what you want. just open the location of the files and open wince cab manager drag your folder over and it will add all files and subfolders i only tested this with one subfolder but im sure it will do others

that program is the absolute easiest way to make cabs though it has so many options that make life a lil easier when making cabs.

question for you guys...is there a program out there (besides win CE) that you can use to alter the location that a cap gets installed to...for example, if i had a music player cab that automatically installed directly to the start menu, but instead i wanted it to install to a folder named multimedia...again, i know Win CE can do this bc ive used it for that but im trying to find something else bc my 30 free trial is about to run out with Win CE...thanks in advance

lol, you're right. I misread. I thought it was $25, but that's just the upgrade price. They're crazy. Guess I'll just keep making new virtual machines to get another 30 day trial on. :p
