I'm speaking of ACCOLC.

Yes, YOU are correct, except it's the same system on all Networks.
You can find the entire history of the system and how it works here or abroad with Google.

Thanks I set mine to 6 so I will have top public priority I guess. I don't want to be responsable for a doctor getting droped because I want to harras friends at the end of a big game.

From what I read it could be disabled in some places anyway.

ok im on verizon network (in GA) mine was defaulted at 7...so if i set it to 2 then my priority of a call is more reconizable than just another cell phone number right...so the lower the number the higher the priority...

i think i understand what tweaking the NAM settings does, but what exactly does changing the slot cycle index in the modem settings do?

NM... i just read more carefully

SCI will primarily impact ring throughput.

as for the ACCOLC codes....

In the US we use 0-9, in the UK they use other ACCOLC mentioned.

Here we use a lower number for priority with EMS using preferred 0+1 (been this way for almost 20 years, yes i have been in wireless that long - i remember having to "Burn" Nam chips as they were eeproms back then).

My phone was set to 0 by defalt? Is it posable that Alltel ignors this feature?
They are not a metopolitan company they as large as they are or clame to be recieved the rural areas in the original lotory of regions. Only agreements with Verizon and others take them to a national level.

Or did they just screw up with my phone?

Years ago we started defaulting ACCOLC to the last digit of your MIN. This was to help seed the network evenly.

i will go out on a limb and say that your Phone Number ends in 0 :-)

Several weeks ago when we had the wildfires ACCOLC became a real issue for me, for 2 days i could not make or recieve calls. I had to go change my code so i could use my phone.

-------------

It is possible that Alltel is not utillizing this feature at this time. I doubt anything is in error. suffice it to say that when roaming on a network which does honor ACCOLC, you will be roaming preferred.
