Anyone willing to dev an app like Trip Cubby or Milebug?

Hi all you developers..

I'm desperate for a decent mileage logging app, I've try several out in the market now for PPCs, but they are all designed for the stylus and hunt and peck method.

I have an Omnia i910 touchscreen and want something I can do quickly. I hate to push the iPhone's apps, but they sure kill in some areas, and this is one.

There are 2 mileage apps out there for iPhone - 'Trip Cubby' and 'Milebug'.

Is there anyone out there insterested in developing a PPC app to work like these, or is there anyone who could point me to the proper development software that I could do it.

I'm a web programmer in php and javascript so maybe I could figure it out.

Could something like this be done with flash and use flashlite on the PPC?

Hrm...I've been looking for something to sink my teeth into...

If there are any specific features you'd really like to keep from those two links, let me know...otherwise, I'll get started on this today and should have a few dev screenshots in a few days...

Also, if you want Auto-GPS tracking, I might add that to a feature list plan that can go in after the basics are working.

seiggy this is great news!

Trip Cubby really has everything I would want. I'm more interested in just tracking mileage - the Auto GPS tracking may be interesting later though.

I'm not so concerned about the rolling numbers.. mostly just being able to enter information with easy finger friendly buttons, etc.

the page here shows the keypad number input:

It almost seems similar to iContacts

I'm excited to hear you're working on this and look forward to seeing your dev shots.

Thanks!!

seiggy .. also, I don't need to worry about reimbursements for travel, but others probably will.

The e-mailing of the report would be nice for that, but I would be more interested in a way to either e-mail or export a file in .csv format to load into a spreadsheet app to use for tax and analysis, etc.

have you checked out GasMate? it may be what your looking for, and more features are always being developed. :)

GasMate looks like a nice app .. but only for MPG .. I'm not looking for a MPG app since I use an excel spreadsheet I've set up for my use (although I may give GasMate a whirl) ..
and I would like something of this nature to handle more than one car.

What I'm needing is a travel mileage tracker that is finger friendly and easy to enter. Right now I'm using PocketMileage II - but it is just to difficult to enter data without a sylus. And, I don't use (nor want to) a stylus on my Omnia.

Thanks for the feedback and lead to the GasMate app though.. I do think I will try it out.

yea, that's what I thougt u were looking for..

anyway, gasemate will have multi-car soon (one of his most requested features)

actually, I just realize you could probably use the maintenance fields to track trip mileage.

I've loaded gasmate .. and I can see how you might be able to use the maintenance for tracking.. but not really very efficiently... and as good as it is, it still isn't as finger friendly as the 2 apps seiggy is working to duplicate. Nor is it able to use the full screen size of larger screens like the Omnia i910.

With more and more PPCs using touch screens, we need to start developing apps that are easier to manage without a stylus. Like larger buttons at the bottom - not scrolling across tabs with triangles, etc. Drop-down boxes are useful to select options .. but difficult to use with fingers.

I will follow gasmate and see what improvements he makes.. but I'm really excited to see what seiggy comes up with.
