Check Engine Light

I wanted to throw this idea out there and see what happened. How about turning our PPCs into a diagnostic device too. Just plug it up to yer vehicle and see what that check engine light is all about instead of paying someone $80-$100 dollars to do it. Oh, and while im at it. Can these devices also hijack a internet jukebox in a bar?

That would be cool if it can be done, It would also be cool to flash a cars computer with our ppc...I use a predator for my Mustang.

very good ideas....... now all that needs to happen is for a great dev to catch an eye on this little baby and then when any of the iphone users come we can make them dump their pants. lol

Re: Check Engine Light

I don't think this idea is far fetched, all we need is a wire harness to plug our ppc (mini usb) to our cars computer and some software.

usually that software costs thousands of dollars

Very cool idea but there would be a tremendous work load keeping up with all of the auto manufactures. Leave it to a fellow St. louis boy to come up with the idea... :)

Re: Check Engine Light

the juke box idea would be sweet, but we'd need an older PPC that has infrared (so we could trick the box into thinking its the original remote)

Very cool links. Not Freeware but it still gets the job done. Thanks for info. Is IR needed for jukebox. Got to be someway to tether.

especially when you want to "hijack it"
lmao
I could see it now,
Guy A: "Who the **** changed the jukebox?"
Guy B: "Look, that guy over there, he's plugged into it"
Everyone: "Get him!!!"

hahaha.

lol. Glad to amuse. I was hopin for something more covert than USB. Was thinkin more along the lines of finding the line the box uses to the internet via wifi or bluetooth or wilan.

It's possible as its already done in the Windows arena with various CarPC's/Carputers running Windows (2000, XP, vista, etc).

I haven't read of a Windows mobile app with the same ability, but I am sure it could be done. You can also go to an Autozone if you have them in your area and they will give you a free OBD reading.
