Phone used as USB keyboard
I have the Apache and I would like to use it has a USB keyboard. Is there a way to do this. The reason being, I fix POS terminals in the town I live in and I get calls and have to go straight there, even when I was out and about and I don't want to have to keep a keyboard in the vehicle or run home and grab one. These terminals don't have keyboards or PS/2 ports. Only USB and since I know you can use the phone as a Bluetooth keyboard (seen it done) then why not a USB keyboard.

Re: Phone used as USB/Bluetooth keyboard/mouse for PC
I was re-imaging a PC yesterday and it got very annoying to have to swap the keyboard and mouse from my main computer to the PC I was working and back and forth numerous times!!
I was thinking, it would be so much nicer to have a USB dongle like the wireless keyboards/mouse have and bluetooth my phone to it. Otherwise even if I could plug the USB cable that I sync the phone with and run an application on the phone and have the phone detected as a wireless keyboard/mouse. I know this has to be possible. Why hasn't anyone made something like this yet??? |
Re: Phone used as USB keyboard
actually that would be pretty cool. I should try that bluetooth one with my bluetooth serial adapter (to usb adaptor)
come to think of it are there any usb bluetooth adapters that can store pairing info internally? |

Re: Phone used as USB keyboard
true, that rs232-bt adaptor wasn't cheep, but provides great versitility. I have even hooked it up to an old barcode reader, but thanks to the TP and barcorama I don't need it for that any more. hopefully this weekend I'll have time to play with it and prove the concept anyway.
sorry, misspelled.. updated with link. |

Re: Phone used as USB keyboard
So what's the consensus? Is it possible to plug the phone into the computer and have it recognize it as a keyboard/mouse?
I dont know the technical aspects of this but it would seem logical to me that it could be done. You start an application which emulates a keyboard or makes the computer recognize it as such, it connects, and you use the keyboard and mouse and the application sends the appropriate keystrokes. |
Re: Phone used as USB keyboard
