Need future MLB app input

Hey all,

The past day or two I've been putting together some script that takes data from MLB.com and delivers it to my Mogul (via MortScript)... right now, I've got the following working:

-Get Schedules
Displays a list of today's MLB games (based on system date) in format "Away @ Home, GameTime"... will pull the data once a day, and then cache until the date changes. Also has options to offset the time to make it display in your time zone.

-Get Current Score
Pretty self-explanatory... Upon selecting a game from the list, will display the current score

-Get Line Score
Upon selecting a game, will list game status, current inning #, balls/strikes/outs, and runs scored for each team, listed by inning.

Obviously I've just started on this app and I plan on adding more features/data... for example, selecting an inning from one of the games will (hopefully) soon pull up data about who scored what, etc. I also want to add a feature where the user will select a game they want to monitor... the app would then wake up every XX minutes and check the score.. if the score has changed, it would then send a vibe (or ring, etc) to the phone and alert the user...

I'm not really ready to release this app yet, as it's still buggy and i'm still working on handling a few different scenarios (e.g. right now it hard errors out if you select a game that hasn't started yet).

I'm basically posting this out here as a sounding-board for any suggestions, requests, etc. that people think would be awesome to have. If you could have any feature you wanted in an MLB program, what would it be??

Let me know. Thanks!

P.S. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUBS!!!!

Not to derail you, but I use ESPN's mobile site, as it is pretty awesome in checking baseball scores. Maybe you can take a look at it and pick and choose what features they have and add it to your app!

... perhaps who is currently pitching, who is at bat, and maybe even who is on deck, but that may be difficult to configure.

Re: Need future MLB app input

I'm not worried about being derailed, here.... I'm aware that there are currently ways to get information about MLB scores, etc., but I want to have:
  • an easy way to check MLB data (i.e. without having to load up a browser and navigate webpages),
  • something that will quickly/easily summarize what's happened in each inning, and potentially provide more detailed information (player stats, pitcher stats, play by play, etc),
  • something that could potentially alert me to certain events (i.e. home team scores, etc).

Plus, it's nice being able to add whatever features I think of as I go along.... so, if anyone has any good ideas of a feature they'd like to see (or think would make this a better solution than some other app), please feel free to let me know.

i do like pocket sportscenter BUT I cant access my cbs or yahoo fantasy baseball teams online.

it might be cool if there was a way that you could choose a list of players and then have it update those players stats in the list (show the normal stats 3-4 1 homer, 2 rbi, 1 run, 0 stolen bases) for pitcher (innings pitched, hits allowed, runs allowed, earned runs allowed, era for the game, strikouts, walks, whip, win, lose or save).

i keep on hoping to get the skyfire beta and see if it will allow me to view my fantasy teams online BUT i am guessing it wont.

it is too bad we didnt have the ESPN app that was on the MVP phone (now with verizon).

pocket sportscenter is good - i do like it BUT i miss espn bottomline on my sanyo 5600.

Sounds like a good idea (having tracked player stats)... I'll add it to the list and start working on it when i'm satisfied with the current version.

Thanks for the input!
