Opera 9.7 build 35461

Opera 9.7 build 35461:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MM4KK7SD

Just tested this out from xda, and it seems so far that you can actually use the zoom bar on the device without doing anything except sliding your finger across.

Previous version I had to launch the zoom function then zoom. Automatically does it on my TP2 for Sprint.

Give it a try and report back if you would like.

Hope you find this version helpful

Does the screen auto rotate to the side?

If you mean to landscape mode... Just tried it while on my homepage of Google, and it did it without a glitch. Same with mobile.msn.com

awesome! that was the one feature that kept me on 9.5. also, the random crashing of 9.7 didn't help sway me to upgrade. hopefully they have that fixed too. Thanks for the good news!

Re: Opera 9.7 build 35461

I loaded and have done a little playing around. All-in-all the brower seems quit a bit snappier than the version 9.5 that was loaded on my Sprint TP2. Also, I like the menu system better. I have to play with it more, but so far seems REALLY nice, thankyou!

Not sure. I'm using SPB 3.5 and have it on the main page, and when I loaded over the previous 9.7 version, it did a reset, pressed the Opera icon that was already on my home screen from the previous version, and it loaded the new one. I did nothing but install the cab.

Official Captain Throwback full cab here:
http://www.everythingdiamond.info/sh...ad.php?p=11661

The other link was just a modified cab which changed .exe files.

That thread was not showing up in firefox and was just black.

But.... http://everythingdiamond.info/captai...70_35461_1.cab

That should be the direct download. Figured he'd have that out today after the other one.

Installed this one as a test, and it seems the zoom function doesn't work like the last one did. At least when tested, it wouldn't do it just by using the zoom bar. Going to test the older one and report back as soon as it installs.

Update....Seems as if there is a scroll bar problem on the other build. I re installed the one I posted, and at least on my device it works. Tried the link from captain, and that doesn't seem to work.

I installed it fine. I copied back my opera6.adr and it shows in the Bookmarks tab but not under the star just the folder ie favorites... do i have to resave mine from bookmarks? or how to make them show up under star?

Re: Opera 9.7 build 35461

so - kinda like a couple of the other questions, but what do you have to do to make this the 'default' opera, and take the place of the built-in one. My other Opera installs have installed fine, but are in addition to the original, not in place of.

thanks

I think there is a registry setting you can do, but I dont have that post off the top of my head. There is one on here, or xda that says...make Opera your default browser. Mine is set that way, but have not tested it where a program launches a browser to see what one it loads.

The Megaupload looks to be working fine for me. I cant seem to ever download in Firefox, but I opened IE and it downloaded fine.

Also, the settings page is all jacked up and in VGA font, and to correct it you can either do...
HKLM\Software\Opera\Prefs\Adaptive Zoom\ to 100 (decimal).

Haven't tested yet, and dont know if it will do the zoom bar deal correctly, but if someone does load it, let me know if that function works in that cab. If not, I would suggest keeping my original one I posted installed and changing the KEY to change the settings stuff.

This cab is QVGA, don't we need WVGA for Touch Pro 2?

Sprint TP2

may need netframe 3.5... but then again it would say wrong framework so hmmmmmmm... try that anyways or maybe installing to device or card.

You're right, my fault, but the registry edit with a value of 100 over the 197 I think was default helped quite a bit. I'm sure you can go higher to make it bigger, but it was too big and distorted originally. Did make it nicer. I may mess with that value a little more. I'll take down that link above.

A strange thing happened after installing the file Opera_Browser.9.70.35461.cab. The phone crashed after the soft reset, then I had to un-install opera 9.7. The built-in browser after that started behaving in a strange way. for example, when opening the favourites (pressing the star button) in land scape mode, the favourites window appears automatically in portrait mode. I tried to install the 9.7 again, then I got the message that I do not have to the needed rights. Any suggestions? How at least to restore the built-in Opera?

Not sure man, mine installed just fine and have had no problems with it what so ever. The built in Opera should still be there, under the Windows section. 9.7 for me anyway installs under programs. So you should be ok. Try looking for it under your programs too. You should see 2 different Opera Icons.

Actually, I checked mine, and I think I deleted 9.5, so I dont think I have it. But if you have NOT deleted it, it should still be there.

Besides that, it could be a conflict with something why it's crashing. I dont think anyone else has had that problem that I am aware of.

Re: Opera 9.7 build 35461

Same thing happened to me! I've tried renaming registry settings under HKLM\Software\Opera, no go. installed EnableRAPI, sdkcerts, no go. Uninstall pretty much sets me back to Opera 9.5

older builds of Opera 9.7 beta seem to install fine, but crash at startup now. :(

quickstang,

Thanks for posting this. I was all excited when it seemed to work while maintaining the hardware zoom an accelerometer tilt functions.

But, I'm confused . . .

Is the cab you posted in the first post QVGA, VGA or WVGA?

Thanks.

Re: Opera 9.7 build 35461

I uninstalled the program because the TF3D "push" bookmarks weren't working. Now, the zoom bar doesn't work in Opera 9.5.

I tried reinstalling, but now I have "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions.

Any ideas on how to fix either problem?

Re: Opera 9.7 build 35461

Few issues I noticed...
1) My bookmarks are gone in opera but are still there on the tf3d tab, if I tap on a bookmark in tf3d it still load fine though. In opera all I get is IE Favs.
2) Does not auto group the text (dunno what its called) like if I zoom out the text fills the box if I zoom in it reformat the text to fit the screen.
3) While yes the zoom bar works I think it worked better in 9.5, for example in 9.7 I use the zoom bar to zoom in more or less and opera flings to some OTHER part of the page and then zooms.
4) The close tab button is gone from the right side of the address bar so I cant close tabs...
5) Some sites dont format correctly, like ppcgeeks mobile forum site for example. Though with turbo mode I guess this would be less an issue.

9.7 is waaayyy faster with turbo mode but text format thing is kinda deal beaker for me...
