Touch Pro 2 Games, Apps, Roms suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

I an a new noob to this site. :) I own a Sprint Touch Pro 2. I love the phone!!:evil4:

Any suggestions for games and apps? (a list would be appreciated!)

Also, which is the best ROM from your personal experience? I am currently running the stock WM 6.5.

Thanks :)

If you get 50 people in a room, you will get 70 different opinions. I've found a rom I really like (can you guess what one? :) ) but then I make a few changes to the theme after loading it too.

Here is how it breaks down in my sad and twisted mind, so you mileage may vary:

Windows Version:
6.1: Fast and uses less resources, but doesn't have all the features of newer versions
6.5: Latest "official" release and has more features, but uses more resources
6.5.X: Tweaked versions of 6.5 that are feature rich, (on average) use less resources than 6.5 but more than 6.1, also some apps don't play well (not usually the major apps, just the small shop or home coder apps)

Interface (GUI/Shell/Whatever):
Windows: Stripped down for speed, not ease
Titanium: Still quite stripped down, but a minor menu to make life easier
Sense/TouchFlo(2d/3d): Several versions (do your own research), much easier to navigate but also uses more resources.

Interface Mods/Shells:
Max Manila: Very nice addition to Manila, but I believe no longer being developed (I might be wrong)
Cookie's Home Tab: My personal favorite. Fast and friendly
SPB Mobile Shell: A paid app, but a free demo is available. It's worth checking out.
PointUI: Sorry, I've not tried it
Wisebar Advanced Desktop 2 (WAD2): Another paid app. Can be very complex but also can do just about anything you can think up.
There are so many others I've forgotten about or skipped over. Keep searching.

As far as apps go; well, that depends on what you want to do.

I am using the stock 6.5 sprint rom with cookie home tab mod for the sense UI

BE CAREFUL with your mods. some are not cross compatible. For example you can't use BG4ALL and Cookie 1.8.5 together since they conflict (cookie has it built in)

etc.. So keep an eye on what your installing. read up watch for compatibility issues and BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP because if you start messing around YOU WILL break it and have to hard reset it at least one time probable many times.

thats part of the fun don't worry about it just back up anything important :-)

it would be nice to get a good list of "GOOD" games. while sure some games are user specific a good game is still a good game IE a game that is fast clean pretty IE nothing wrong with it etc.. and works well on the TP2 etc..

I have used some of the apps on http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/

Nice part is they are free. You can get the Marketplace app from Microsoft and that will open up some freebies also. The netflix app, facebook app are all free and very user friendly.

I hope that helps

Your best bet would be to test out a few different roms for yourself and see which one you like best. Nobody will be able to figure out which one you will like most... hell you may even have two that you want to switch off each week:evil4:

but sometimes hearing others peoples thoughts and feelings and responses to a rom can help you make a more informed decision.

plus its fun to hear what other people think about something. likes and don't likes etc..

I just released a game that I wrote.
I used a Touch Pro2 for all of the development of this game.

Re: Touch Pro 2 Games, Apps, Roms suggestions?

this is just my opinion based on experience and use of the touch pro2. there are alot of good roms out there and cool apps. that being said:
I.roms:
when it comes to roms look no further than mightyrom! stable and fast it makes the phone work the way its supposed to. more user friendly to flash since it comes in an ruu folder already, like a stock rom would.
II.apps and tweaks (cab files):
1.immuts arcsoft mms (works great with mightyrom!)
2.htcaddicts clean ram (keeps ur phone runnin smoothly... use it)
3.htc wi-fi router(better than tethering, get online with your laptop!)
4.sh4ys raphael net speed boost (improves internet speeds..yes its noticeable)
5.minishhippo iphone sms skin (cool sms skin makes txts more fun & easy to read)
(there are a few more like pandora that kinda work but look crappy)
III.games
other than the stock teeter game i really havent seen anything impresive or that actually works the way its supposed to.

*the mp3 player works nicely just load music onto your micro sd card and if you download movies to mp4 format they look great on the screen. the stock youtube app is awesome too. but thats about it. nothing iphone or android level in games or app quaility and finish. more of a business phone at heart that only seems to work properly with an aftermarket rom.
