Need some help with customizing..

I bought an HTC Touch Pro 2 today and it is quite the pain to get it to look how i want it.. go figure its a windows os! hacking is required!

there are a couple things i want to change on the main screen

1. is the lame clock.. does it have to be so big? are there other styles im just not finding?

2. is the date/alarm/calendar window. can i git rid of it?

3. what about the taskbar? can i change it from boring white?

*I have read a little about this and i understand i may need to download cabs and all that but this is my first ppc and i really dont know what im doing so if you could pretend this is TP2 for dummies id appreciate it ;) i have not downloaded ANYTHING for it yet and it is running windows mobile 6.5 on sprint network

thanks in advance!!!

Download Cookies Home Tab 1.8.5 and CHTeditor. That will do what you want for now. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=123875

Cookies Home Tab v1.8.5 (With The Editor) ALWAYS works nicely.

You could also swap out the Sense UI with any one of the tons of Custom UI's

Here is a (Short) list that you could look into:

Max Manilla
Max Sense (Requires a Cooked ROM)
SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 (Requires Payment)
iClone (iPhone rip off....god, why would you want that!?!?!?)

There are a lot more, just I can't remember names right now. Keep in mind though, you WILL need to Hard-SPL Unlock and Flash a ROM in order to fully modify your phone.

Basically though, I would suggest a full overhaul on the system anyway. I personally find that without all the Bloatware (Stock apps/programs that serve no purpose to me) my device can run 100X better then it did "Stock"

If you decide to go the route of Custom ROMs, there are a TON of good posts on this site for it, and PLENTY of good people that would be more then happy to help you out.

(You just gotta let someone know)

(NOTE - PLEASE ASK if you need ANY help with flashing. It is ALWAYS better to ask first and do it right as opposed to making a frantic post about how you just bricked your phone)

Re: Need some help with customizing..

Another (decent) UI is the "WisBar Advance Desktop". It is another one that you have to pay for (can get a free trial), however, it will give you widget (just like Mobile Shell) which is really nice for an "Android-ish" feel.

Plus once you get use to it, you can take any of these UI's and build your own ROM on the and make the PPC 100% YOU. It is nice being able to customize it to fit EXACTLY your needs. No tryin to remove this or add this BS, just load it up and its all you ready to go.

Once again, if you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask (either me or anyone else). I do work during the day/night, but I try to answer all my PM's within 18hrs.

Re: Need some help with customizing..

Just a heads up. These UI's all have custom widgets and act almost like the Android UI:

Mobile Shell 3.5 (or any other Mobile Shell)
MaxSense (any version of it)
Wisbar Advance Desktop

Like I said, with any one of these you can add widgets to your desktop. Just take a look at my avatar, that is done with MaxSense (although I no longer use it. I ended up building my own ROM based on Mobile Shell and it is EXACTLY like android).

Don't worry though. I am also going to Android very soon (jumping to at&t for the Dell Streak)
