improved camera speed

For improved camera speed, try this tweak, it works great.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\Captparam

Key: CapKeyDelayTime: Originally 1500, change to 50
Key: CaptureTimer: Originally 5000, change to 50

Enjoy.

Mind explaining a little bit more what this does sounds interesting.

Note - I think this also removes the function of doing the auto-focus but yes it removes the lag from the time you click to take the picture and the time it actually is taken.

Wesley762, there are other threads if you go in the main TP2 forum area search that go pretty deep into this detail.

Nothing about this came up in the search function, mind sharing a link?

Re: improved camera speed

it does exactly what he says and works great. the only thing is is doesn't autofocus before you take the pic so you have to click on the screen where you want to autofocus before you take the picture.

here is the original post in vin255764's plutonium/neodium thread

Re: improved camera speed

autofocus just fine for me...
It reduces the software lag between pushing the button, autofocus, an an actual picture being taken....autofocus still happens.

Re: improved camera speed

you dont have to change the values to just 50.
0 works even better...

try using advanced config, these options among many others are included in the program...

To get better snap shots using your TP camera:

1. Turn Auto White Ballance off. Select the best for your situation.
2. Turn down the brightness all the way down.
3. Make sure you've got your resolution set to 3MP and quality to super fine
4. Turn off the shutter sound (this prevents your subjects to move before the picture is taken - auto focus sound can be confusing).
5. On your shoot option, put it to just touch (optional).
6. And set the image properties to +4, +3, and +5
7. Obviously, you should wipe your cover camera lenses with soft cloth right before the picture. Optionally, just take the back cover off.

Hope this helps!

Fabio

Hope that helps. I turn white balance all the way down and that seems to help.

There is no difference in picture quality from a pixle standpoint. Where you'll see the difference is since the software no longer has the built in lag, your target will have less chance of moving, and you will have less chance of moving your hand/phone while taking the picture.

I've been doing some research and have not come up with an answer. But through trial and error I've at least come to a conclusion.
Results of using the edit/cab seem to be varried. Some say it works, some say there's no effect. I say there is; HOWEVER, there is a snag. This edit reduced the lag between when auto focus locks and the image is stored...therefore, if you are a coffee junkie like me, auto focus will be slower, an therefore the lock will be slower, and there will still be lag.
Try this, open your camera and look at the + with the box around it. That box is the camera trying to auto focus...no picture will be taken while the camera is trying to focus (this is why there is no degredation of picture quality). If you are Mr. Steady Hand, the auto focus time will be shorter, and therefore have better results with the reg edit.....if you are a coffee junkie like me....try increasing ISO to 400, that will help a bit more.

Sorry this is long winded, but any thoughts or comments, feel free to PM or share.

Re: improved camera speed

Alright, not forgetting the above, go to camera settings, advanced, and turn OFF "touch focus" and "metering mode" to AVERAGE---seems to help with autofocus timing.

Anyone else with some tricks???
