I downloaded a font, but when I tapped the .cab file to install, it came back "this file is not a valid Pocket PC application."

Anyone else getting the same error?

The error I got was, "The file name contains invalid characters". So I removed the quotes ( " ) at each end of the file name and it installed just fine.....

Sweet, thanks - I like the simplicity of Calibri...does that make me too obvious of an MS Office lover?

Lithos Pro saves as a unusable file. I remedied with deleting the extra underscore after .cab in the file name. Just thought you would like to know, or to anyone that doesn't catch that.

probably the font size, most of the phone had the text started with ... and you couldn't scroll to see what something was, like with file explorer. I'll play with the font size some and see if I can find a happy balance.

kliptik,
I would GREATLY appreciate a cab with the calibri font about half the size that you currently have it and call it "Calibri Small". I would use this for some special applications and if would be a great help, thanks.

I finally figured it out: It appears I caused my error when deleting the ".cab" in the filename in addition to the quotation marks. Looks like I'm staying with the Cataneo BT font until I see another worth playing with. (Sizing is about perfect on this one. :) )

OK so it seems the links are down again... I dont know whats going on here... Im gonna have to do some digging after i get off work this afternoon and get this worked out...

I'm using my SkyDrive to host the files, but it seems to keep changing the URL every night. So if anyone knows how to keep my SkyDrive from changing the URL, or of another simple way to host the files, Im all ears.

Also, I'm going to look into the extra characters in the filenames. They aren't there when I upload them, so its got to be something before/during download...

And lastly, I will be getting the other requests added to Post #1 this afternoon.

Thanks Everyone!!!

Looking at restaurant search results is ridiculously small right now.

Thanks

yes it will affect your google maps font size but the best way to deal with that is by going to your system font settings and choose the largest font setting.

Hey Kliptik, any ideas why Informal Roman is pretty much one of the few fonts that doesn't cut off the information in the weather area on the Home Screen? Informal Roman seems to move the city down a line and right justifies the actual weather conditions using two lines instead of one. If you look at the other fonts, most of cut off the information with an ellipsis... and only use one line, even though they could fit it is they used two lines or right justified the text.

you know i was trying to figure that out myself. im pretty sure its in the manila files (which i have no experience editing). i might try and see if someone can look at the mainla files and see what causes that. the trouble is that with so many ppl running somany variations of Sense, theres no way to make a broad fix manila file.ill see what i can come up with this afternoon.

Santod has experience with fonts in Manila, i'd ask him. I got the Droid font from him :drunken:

OK all of the DL links are working again. I tried something different this time, so hopefully they will stay fixed.

In response to everyone that has been having trouble with the "extra characters" in the filename:

I looked into this, and it only happens to me when I try to DL the CAB from my device. If I DL the CAB to my PC, and then sync it over, I have no problems. I just did a test run on my phone, and sure it enough it's wrapping the filename with quotation marks... I have absolutely no idea why it's doing this... I'm going to see if it's an Opera setting somewhere...

Can you please confirm that you downloaded this while on your device (i.e. via Opera or IE)? That seems to be the only way I get the same error.

Also, Can anyone else confirm that they DID NOT have to remove extra characters during/after downloading on their device (via Opera or IE)?

I downloaded mine via Opera Mobile 9.7, if that helps any. Found our my error was caused by removing the ".cab" from the filenamw IN ADDITION to the quotation marks. I've been able to resolve that issue by removing ONLY the quotation marks, as stated in my previous post.

Really digging the fonts, but wishing some were better sized so as to not interfere with Manilla (Sense 2.5).

All requests have been fulfilled and added to Post #1!!!

I also updated the FAQ in Post #3 with the issue of extar characters in the filename.

Thanks to everyone who requested specific fonts!!!

And a HUGE thanks to everyone who supplied the .TTF file(s) for your request!!!

Enjoy!!!

Yeah I hear you on the Manila interference... Although I will say the TP2 has MUCH less problems than the TP1 did... Probably due to available screen real estate.

I am considering breaking up the CABs so you can install separate fonts for Manila (Sense) and Windows. This could turn out to be very time consuming, so I'm waiting to see how the requests go before I jump into too much more.

www.dafont.com also has a ton of free fonts

Kliptik, just so you know, the Zegoe and Helvetica font has a _ after the extension .cab

so if you rename it to be .cab instead of .cab_ it will still work. Just a heads up.
Thanks!

I never download via the phone, i download them as .cab's like i always do via firefox then i transfer them to my phone.

downloading via phone directly is never a safe thing to do regardless of where it was downloaded from

the rest of the files were right, its just the Zegoe and Helvetica font wasn't named right

you could just upload them to PPC since they can host them and you can also get a download count of how many times it was downloaded

I had considered attaching them to the thread, but I can only attach 5 per post and there's already 35+ font CABs...

EDIT* So it seems Opera is adding " around the filename and Firefox is adding _ at the end of the extension...

OK so i did some searching and apparently SkyDrive isn't meant for direct file hosting... So... Is there any way a mod could set me with being able to attach more than 5 CABs the a post? i think right now we're up to 35+ font CABs.

5 per post isn't correct, you can have more than that, its just it lets you upload 5 at a time, once those are uploaded they will show below the uploader, then you can upload 5 more at a time.

Edit: it looks like the max is 10 files per post, most people when they post a bunch of cabs just say "see post 2 and 3 for more files"
Thats why they reserve multiple posts when they first post something

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...1_tutorial.png

it would be a better choice for you since your downloads keep disappearing on and off.

not trying to give you a hard time, just trying to help out 8-)

if this method still doesn't work out for you, try using hotfile, NRGZ uses that to host his ROM's while its a little slow (100kb down max, but sometimes it gives full speed), the download links remain the same, there not encrypted.

MediaFire is also a good choice if you just want to download a file one at a time, and there is no speed restriction

Hopefully you'll get them attached Kliptik and we can all enjoy your hard work. :)

You could always used 4shared.com too, if that helps. I think they give you a 2gb or a 5gb account to upload to.
