No, you do not have to remove it.
To change the layout or clocks:
Tap right softkey "menu"
Edit Home Layout
You will now be in edit mode, you can then move items around, or tap and hold the clock and select previous or next, to cycle through the clock options.
There will also be an advanced edit mode right softkey, when in the standard edit mode.
As well as tap and hold in an empty space to add items from the advcanced menu.

OK, I'm stumped... How do I get it to allow the appointments to auto hide the quick links like in the previous version? So far, they are just on top of each other..

Update 13-Apr-2010:
Version 1.7.0 released. Uninstall the old version and soft reset before upgrading.
To prevent losing your settings and Quick Link assignments, use CHTEditor to back up before uninstalling, and restore everything when you install the new version.

Notes on some of the new features:
-In the edit layout view the home items are movable. If you tap and hold in place you will get a pop up menu. Two different menus are available: one over a selected item and another one when nothing is selected.
-The max amount of pages depends on the quick links layout: 3x3 gets a maximum of 6 pages, 4x4 gets 5, 4x5 4 and 5x5 is limited to 3.

One last question, I swear!

When I select "7 bars" on the "select Home Items" page and then push "done" I only get five appointments??? When I select "6 bars" I get the same 5 appointments???

What am I doing wrong?

Auto hide is disabled. Set your layout the way you want it.
That is why it shows test appointments when rearranging the layout, to prevent overlap. Everything is movable also.
