HTC Appointment Editor for Sense 2.1 *UPDATED*

2 Attachment(s)
This is the appointment editor that Sense 2.5 uses ported to work for 2.1.
All the credit goes to kimi_sae_ireba over at xda. Please show him some thanks in any way you see fit.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605252

I just repackaged the cabs for easier installation on a CDMA TP2, and added an unported Framework cab. In the rom that I am currently using, I was missing four files from the HTC Framework required to make the time picker work.

http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Screen02-1.png
http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/a...Screen03-2.png

I tested this on 2 different roms. It worked on JD's 2.1, but not Cfay's.
I think the difference lies in the Manila version.

*UPDATE*- Thanks to Mighty Mike for shedding the light on this one here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=107183

This should work on any Sense 2.1 now. I have included a new uncompressed calendar tab in the attached zip.

To install:
1) Disable all Today items.
2) Install the Calendar_Tab_Update_WVGA cab
3) Soft reset
4) Turn sense on and verify that the calendar tab still works. If it does proceed to step 7. If it doesn't you have an uncompressed version of manila. Disable Sense, uninstall, soft reset, and proceed to step 5.
5) With Sense disabled, install the Calendar_Tab_Update_WVGA2
cab and soft reset.
6) Turn Sense on and verify that the calendar tab works.
7) With Sense disabled, install the Calendar Appointment Mod, Contact picker, and Appointment Editor cabs. Soft reset
8-Turn Sense on, and verify that all functions of the Appointment editor
work. If they do, you are finished. If they don't proceed to 9
9) Install the Framework cab and soft reset

Note: Try this at your own risk. I tried it on CFay's rom, and, while it didn't
work, everything uninstalled fine and worked as it did before the install.

Update 2: To fix the cosmetic issues, uninstall the old Appointment editor,
reset, install the new one posted below, and reset.

Yeah, I think if the ROM/Kitchen hasn't been updated with the latest Leo Framework, the extra files are needed. It's odd though because some of the files are in the old HTC Framework. It was one xml and three graphics files that were missing on JD's ROM. When I first installed it, the date picker worked fine. I copied the missing xml to \windows and then the time
picker came up, but would not work. I then copied the three graphics files over and everything worked.

Hey Chas! Does this work now for mightyrom 1/13 update? I followed your conversation with kimi on xda where you were working through getting this to work. I'm just wondering if this post includes everything we need to get it to work?

I just followed the instruction and installed on MightyROM 1.20.2010 and everything SEEMS to work okay. I used the WVGA-2 CAB in Step 5 because the other one, though it seems to work okay, just didn't look right. It seemed a little sluggish when I first brought up the month and agenda views, but I think it works okay on this release, though I would want to test more to be sure.

Great work. Calendar_Tab_Update_WVGA-2.cab worked great. :)

I just wanted to post something I found while playing around, let me know if anyone else has the same problem. I included pictures below to show what I mean.

To replicate:
1) Click on "new appointment" in the calendar and go down to where it says "Repeat" and "Reminder." At this point everything shows up correct.
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...dscapeview.png

2) Put the phone into landscape mode (Pull out the keyboard). When you go back down to where it says "Repeat" and "Reminder" the repeat and bell icons are stretched out over the text.
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...2Landscape.png

3) Now when you put your phone back into portrait mode the repeat and bell icons are on-top of the first few letters or text in both categories.
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...dscapeview.png

Does anyone else have this problem?

Which calendar update cab did you use and which rom are you on?

Re: HTC Appointment Editor for Sense 2.1 *UPDATED*

I am on my MightyROM 1-20-2010 and I had to use Calendar_Tab_Update_WVGA-2 because the first one left a big white screen where my calendar should have been. lol

Yeah, I just flashed a rom with uncompressed manila and it is doing the same think. I'll try to figure it out.

I have this problem too using mighty's 1/13 update. Probably still not enough to get me to remove it because I love the agenda view

You can get agenda view without this cab. This cab really enables the appointment piece of 2.5.

Just wanted to say this HTC Appointments upgrade works on Mighty Rom 1.20.09

It looks very much better than the stock windows mobile appointment interface

Having the same problem on my stock rom.

EDIT: Calendar_Tab_Update_WVGA-2.cab won't uninstall, but my calendar tab is operating as normal after uninstalling other cabs.

Make sure you turn off manila before installing/uninstalling any of these cabs.

Same thing here... I'm running MALRom 1.5B6 and the cabs install work fine and generally work well. But I have some of the distortions previously discussed in this forum and shown with the red arrows.

I also cannot uninstall the WVGA CAB (I never installed the WVGA2 cab) even though I have manilla un-checked although my system is working ok without uninstalling it.

Turn off manila.
Copy your language file from the locale folder in the zip file to \windows
soft reset

I have to be out of town for a couple of days, I will fix the editor when I get back. Thanks for the files.

So with the above files we can fix this? and how... Or do we have to wait for an update or new release? Thanks!

That zip contains the language files to translate the calendar (as requested)

I will have a cab up by the weekend to fix the appointment editor.

Thanks for the update! Everything works great.

EDIT: One thing I noticed.. I had an apppointed I added for today at 5:15 to 6:15pm. At 7:00pm the appointment was still on the main htc sense 2.1 homescreen and WM 6.5 lockscreen. After a reboot it went away. Is this caused by the calendar modifications?

Thanks

I can't really say. I just switched over to 2.5. If it keeps happening, you might try uninstalling it to see if the mod is the cause.
Does it go away when you delete the appointment?

Re: HTC Appointment Editor for Sense 2.1 *UPDATED*

This is a great mod for the calendar.

Is they anyway it can see my custom categories for the appointments?

It doesn't see my custom categories and I do not see anyway to add them in on the new calendar appointment screen.

Thanks.

Re: HTC Appointment Editor for Sense 2.1 *UPDATED*

I second this. I haven't seen a way to view my custom categories either. Maybe it's a registry hack. I'll keep searching unless someone knows.

Re: HTC Appointment Editor for Sense 2.1 *UPDATED*

Thanks for doing this. This is one thing I missed about using 2.5 but was having issues with messaging so had to switch back to 2.1. Any chance of repacking the port of the contacts tab? The layout of 2.5 is much better imho than all previous versions of manila.

Re: HTC Appointment Editor for Sense 2.1 *UPDATED*

Thanks! Just tried this on my Verizon Touch Pro2 with stock 6.5 ROM and so far works great. Didnt try out any of the "advanced" features like repeating and categories but for a basic addition of a new appoitment this is 100% better than the stock WM appointment tool. Dont know why they didn't include this in the first place.

+1 for finding a way to port the 2.5 favorites tab to 2.1

Also I poked around in the manila SMS file trying to find a way so that when you click on a message instead of opening the HTC threaded SMS program it opened Vito SMS chat instead. I saw the file floating around to change it to open to the default windows SMS program instead and thought it would be an easy hack but no such luck.

is there a way to remove week view from calendar tab?
this cab works great on manila 2.1 (without weather) too, except for week view.
when i put week view calendar freeze...
