could someone please help. have just received a replacement XV6800 after my last one lost the ability to retain the password for evdo. Have searched the forums and spent many hours trying to get a gps enabling radio to install without success. I figure that even though I have follow the various tutorials with care I must be doing something very wrong. Have build and installed roms with the kitchen without problems . But have never been able to change the verizon radio. Has anyone got a few moments to slap the side of my head!! or otherwise advise me how to actually get say 3.42.50 or similar gps enabled radio to install.

Radios are not carrier specific. There is no such thing as a Verizon or Sprint radio; they can be used with any carrier.

But do you know how to upgrade a ROM with an SD card? If so, you can use the download from this link:

many thanks for your reply, only unfortunatly have 4+ gig sd cards available at this time and the radio roms do not respond from these. Is it possable to install the radio rom via the usb in active sync?

Make sure not to align the screen or let the customizations run. Alltel was the only company that released this as part of their ROM upgrades. You may need to re-unlock afterward again, but I'm not positive.

You cant install a alltel rom on a locked verizon phone. Just update to MR1 or MR2(Link below) and you will have 3.37xx which is gps enabled. Just curious but what radio version do you have(Under device info under settings-system)

ok , again many thanks for your reply. Have updated to mr1 then mr2. unlocked with spl unlocker and installed custom rom. radio shows as 3.37.78 PRL version 50949 PRI version 2.03_002. all gps apps show serching for gps or no gps found.

If you have a data plan then you need to do the agps fix for the gps to work. If you dont have a data plan. Then you have to do a lot more flashing to remove the verizon block.

i will repeat the same that drewcam just said.

if you had mr1-2 updates on your phone you will not have gps until you find the fix by skywing (not sure about the name)

have tried all fixes , previous 6800 evdo died after an attempt to restore to stock rom and had to replace unit ... another post shows another member with same issues... have now a new 6800 and am somewhat disturbed about the idea of tryng again to return to an older rom. Have vzw by chance changed their gps IP address?
