Can you reverse the 6.1 upgrade?
 

New to changing rom and things on my HTC6800. Looking at installing the new 6.1 Rom upgrade but I am hesitant because i see others with some problems with their machines. If I encounter problems, can this upgrade be reversed or am I stuck no matter what?? Thanks

Depends on your carrier, if they have a stock rom 6.0 available, then you should be able to flash back to the original rom. If there isn't, then it's more complicated or impossible depending on your carrier.

I believe Verizon, Sprint and Altel have a 6.0 rom available.

I have US Cellular. I haven't seen a 6.0 for that. But then again, i am have trouble even finding the proper upgrade. Maybe I should let well enough alone. All I really wanted is the GPS enabled. I have installed the hacks several times but can't seem to get it running.

What problems are you seeing people have and/or what problems are you worried about? Sometimes its 3rd party software conflicting with other stuff. Or some other silly little fix.

Actually, yes, I agree. Most any problems I see on the net seem to be from an earlier 'leaked' version of the 6.1 or other 3rd party upgrades. The problem is, that, being new to this, on the HTC website, it really does not show the PPC6800. Seems that all of the phones shown are 'touch' models. It does show the picture of the 6800 but the description is 'Touch Pro'. I don;t know if this is a misprint or not. Being a little scared to change the Rom to something that is not designed for the pone, I got real hesitant.

The 6800 is end of life, so HTC's website doesn't have much listed for it anymore.

Yea, kinda' figured that one out. Guess that's why i got such a good deal on it. Plus, I'm seeing that US Cellular isn't real keen on updates. They kinda' drag their feet. I'll just stick with what I've got and add some 3rd party.

I did use the download for the GPS, twice, but could not get the GPS yo find any satilites. From what I am reading, US Cellular is blocking the use, correct? Or am I not doing something correct?? The files install, the GPS enables itself but will not find any satilites. Custom ROM?? I would love to learn more about the internal works of WM. Sure would like to read a good book or take a class. To afarid to mess with it , afarid i can't get it back to where it was origionally if I have problems
