I use the latest verizon stock rom and use garmin, googlemaps, live search, tomtom, and verizon navigator (sometime a little slow to get itself going) and they all work..!

Search for the vahalla Legends gps cab.

Make sure you set your gps com port to 4 and all other programs to the intermediate driver/com port or google maps --managed by windows.

I generally don't need to prime it at all although my today screen has gps today to it, to make sure my gps sats are coming in.
