Make titan camera into 5,6,7, or 8 megapixel camera.

I recently took my daughter to an ice show where we had good seats, but when using my camera, the quality was great but the pictures weren't zoomed in close enough. I currently have the vogue camera, which is just 2 megapixels, on my titan. Does anyone know of a way to change the zooming view to 5,6,7, or even 8-10 megapixels?

Megapixels are a function of the sensor that captures the picture. You can't capture more data (megapixels) than the sensor is capable of. You can use any photo editing software to zoom in on the picture that you have taken but, the fewer megapixels that the image has, the less you will be able to blow up the image before the quality suffers (becomes pixelated). The digital zoom function does not give you any more data to work with, it just expands the existing image to fill the screen. Increasing the "zooming view" on your device is exactly the same as editing the picture after you take it. So, if your quality was good, just use your photo editor to crop the picture to the desired area and the net effect is the same as if you had a higher digital zoom function.

I love having the camera on my Touch Pro for all those pics that I would never have gotten otherwise but, if I want to purposely take pics, that's what my digital SLR is for.

Try "PhotoZOOM" app for PC!
Zoom images without loosing quality! ;)

Infinite zoom of low resolution images only works in TV shows (NCIS is the worst, but CSI likes this chestnut too)

Cell phone cameras are about $5 in electronics with $.50 plastic fixed "lenses" - if you want better images get one of those $100 P&S digitals that are small and light, and bring it with you.

As said before, it isnt a software issue but lack of hardware to support more megapixles

A lot of people would have flamed the OP. Well done for resisting the urge to flame and truly helping someone. Too many people just flame these days.

Believe me, If dtndvm hadn't replied like 2 minutes before I saw this thread yesterday, I would have flamed epically.

OP should change title of post to put question mark after statement so it is a question and not a statement.

Hmmm....define "quality" for a zoomed in image. If you mean it looks sharp and un-pixelated like the unzoomed image, you must have started heavily zoomed out to begin with. Or you need [newer] glasses.

Close. "Native" Megapixels are a function of your hardware, and are typically the best "Quality" you are going to get. Some cameras (not these) can improve on native MP by using time information and some fancy image processing or sacrificing color depth. Most cameras get higher-than-native megapixels by interpolation, which gives a half-***** illusion of more pixels depending on the quality of the interpolation algorithm and the nature of the original image. It is sales trick bafoonery. "Digital Zoom" usually falls into the same category - instead of fabricating pixels between real pixels, they throw out the pixels on the edges and double or triple the ones in the middle. On most devices, it is identical to cropping and then stretching to original dimensions your final image. The only time "Digital Zoom" isn't pure crap is when color depth is sacrificed - then you really are zooming, albeit not without a penalty.

Buy a better camera, duct tape your Titan to it.

Exactly, you can't capture more pixels than the sensor originally recorded. You can manipulate them with software and interpolate/extrapolate/tweak/etc. but you are still dependent on the "raw" data. I routinely appear to be a much better photographer than I am after I finish with my images in Photoshop :) I have also recently started experimenting with High Dynamic Range (HDR) in which case the finished picture can improve on the original(s) but you have to have 3 exposures of the same subject to work with. If anyone wants some nice wallpapers try http://www.hdrwalls.com/index.php

ROFL - thanks for the tip! My new camera: Titan 2.0 megapixel + Touch Pro 3.2 megapixel + Canon EOS 40D 10 megapixel = New camera 15.2 megapixel

Works like a charm but it really looks funny in my pocket and lint keeps getting stuck to the duct tape!
