Testing a rom before burning?

Does anyone know if there is a way to test a rom image before loading it on the phone? Maybe using one of Microsoft's virtual phones?

could probably convert it to emulator image format somehow, and run it in microsofts device emulator, don't ask me how though

There is not. The ROM contains hardware specific elements that can not be tested on a virtual device.

That makes sense. Wouldn't work unless the emulator was a full virtual machine. *sigh* Guess it's burning to test.

Can't make a "full virtual machine" for hardware. There's nothing like the real thing.

True, but we are dealing with a desktop that is significantly more powerful than the ARM processor. It should be possible to to make a sufficient hardware emulator. (If time and resources were free.)
