Thanks to MrObvious for pointing out that the latest Alltel ROM had this feature activated. It turns out that the feature has been in rilphone for awhile now, but hasn’t been activated. Anyway, you’ll need:

(1) Latest version of rilphone.dll
(2) Radio that supports Rev.A
(3) A registry editor
(4) Override (optional)

Steps:
1 – Add this registry entry
[HKLM\System\OEM_STATE\RSSI]
”show_rev_A_icon”=dword:1

2-Restart Phone
If you are in a rev.A area, it should show “E” for EDGE. Why HTC picked this instead of the useless EVDV bitmask is beyond me. If you are fine with the “E”, you are done.

3-Apply Override (optional)
Copy the supplied override.dll to your phone, and add this registry entry:
[HKLM/Security/ResOver/Bitmaps]
”BaseDLL”=”Override.dll”

where exactly should i put the .dll?

I should mention that the included rilphone is for cooking only, i think..., you shouldn't need it if you have a newer rom..

the new alltel rom has a RevA icon. If you wanted i could upload the images, maybe it would be possable to work with those?


Here is the revA icon, with the file it is in on the alltel rom, has well has the registry on what to change, i hope it helps, maybe some greats like no2chem can do something with it.

I was traveling in Winchester, VA a couple days ago when I saw the Rev A icon for the first time. I thought there was something wrong when I saw the "E". I thought it would look like something else, but after a quick speed test I knew it was Rev A.

I am running Sprint Stock ROM 3.35. While I need the rilphone.dll?

Also the rilphone rar file on the nuerom site has 7 files like s000, s001, rilphone.dll etc. Should I be putting all these 7 files in windows directroy?
