OK so i've read the pdf file on how to install it and that can't be any clearer, and the way its worded, being that it says "go into file explorer and look for whatever file it was" i'm assuming i can just update that. a positive answer would still be appreciated. now back to the search.

You can lock, unlock, or switch your SPL using the nuunlocker without flashing your ROM. I've done it without issue a few times.

yes, flashing nuespl will just change the bootloader. just make sure you are already on a gps enabled radio first and you don't have to change anything else.

Re-read that. it specifically says nu unlocker.

From personal experience, you can't go from Olipro 2.40 to Nuespl 2.47 directly. When I tried it, the phone would reboot, then get stuck on a screen that said Nuespl 2.07... I'd leave it there forever, and nothing would happen. After resetting, it would be back to Olipro 2.40.

To get to Nuespel 2.47 I had to flash back to a official sprint rom, run the Nuespl relocker to return it to default, and then use the Nuespl 2.47. Once my phone was back to stock condition, it flashed over to the Nuespl perfectly.

It was kind of a hassle. Not sure if there was any benefit going from Olipro 2.40 to Nue 2.47, but what's done is done :-p
