cant get ppckitchen to work
 

hey so i just recently got my titan, and i've been working on customizing it ever since. i've been working with the ppckitchen and i have followed the faq and directions exactly. when i check for updates, it seems to get them all. so i select my file to open(in this case no2chem 5067). so far so good. then at the screen where you select your carrier, device etc, and make all the changes you need to, i have no options to customize it...i thought i downloaded everything in the updater. did i do something wrong?

so i finally just decided to flash no2chem's 5067 by itself. i try and it says the rom folder doenst exist. i'm confused. help??

Are you selecting the .rar file, or the .txt file? Selecting the .txt file in the Projects folder will include the Shareware and PPCGeeks .rar files to accompany the 5067 .rar, which should also be in the Kitchens folder. HTH

Edit: I believe the PPCGeeks_OEM.rar file isn't downloaded now. I had problems earlier and backed up the kitchens and projects, removed everything squeaky clean and installed the newest BuildOS. While it seemed to download the other kitchens along the with cooked ROM's, it downloaded PPCKitchen_OEM.rar but not PPCGeeks_OEM.rar. The other .txt files point to PPCGeeks_OEM.rar, and only the latest 20748 ROM points to PPCKitchen_OEM.rar. I copied the backup copy back to the kitchens folder, and all worked well again. Conversely, you could edit the 5067 .txt file and replace PPCGeeks_OEM.rar with PPCKitchen_OEM.rar, but I don't know if everything is backward compatible.

i was definitely selecting the rar. whoops. i'll give that a shot. is it the same process if i plan on using a nueROM?

You download the nueROM3 prexKitchen rar file from nuerom.com after you donate, sign in, and go to the ROM download folder. Then you make a folder in the Kitchen directory called nueROM and unrar the files there. Lastly you copy the selections from the Project folder to the BuildOS Project's folder and add these two lines:

ahhhh ok i get the neurom part now. but i'm still confused about the end there. i copy what selections? and where do i add those two lines?

When you unrar the Kitchen file you see a Projects folder. Go in there and there is a text file. That should be what you need to open.

ok so i'm still having trouble getting the neuROM3 titankitchen 3pre3 to open in the ppc kitchen. i select the 'neurom 3 selections' txt file just like i would with any of the other ROM's and it gives me the error "unable to open kitchen (kitchens/neurom/no2chem_titan_core).
i cant figure out what i'm doing wrong and i feel like its something really simple but i've spent a long time on it and i cant get it.

You do not have to add the 2 lines......it will work just copying the selections text to the projects folder....:mrgreen:

Did you place the Nuerom3 selections text in the projects folder?

yeah i did, i put the txt file titled "NEUROM_3" in the projects folder. and it still gives me the same error. when i open it in notepad, it looks similar to all the other ROM text files and those all open so i'm confused as to why it is the only one that doesnt open

Make sure the folder is named "NueRom".....if it is my suggestion is to delete all of the NueRom3 files and start over....

i think i put it in the right one. i go to the ppckitchen folder, then buildOS, then the projects folder. and thats where i put the neurom 3 selections txt file right?

which folder should i make sure is named NeuROM?

ok i think i may just uninstall the whole ppckitchen to make sure i didnt mess something up during my trying to figure this out

yep simple as that....did you create the Nuerom folder in kitchens....

yes the neuROM folder is in kitchens. and then inside that neurom folder i extract the ROM right?

well i uninstalled and reinstalled the ppckitchen and that didnt fix it either. i am stumped. any ideas?

Man I dont know.....out of suggestions....only other thing I can think of is make sure you are just copying the selections text into the projects folder....it should also remain in the rom folder.....other than that I dont know...](*,)

yeah it is. well thanks for the ideas! i'll just keep working at it. if anybody else knows what i'm doing wrong, help would be great!
