Word Completion not working in 20748 ROM?
 

I can't get word completion to work with my hardware keyboard no matter what I try. Have unchecked, and rechecked all the boxes soft resetting in between. Nadda!

It does work when using the on screen keyboard, just not the hardware keyboard. I don't have any extra keyboards loaded on this build besides just the standard WM6.1 ones. Just doesn't work. Doesn't matter what program I'm using either.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! There has got to be a registry value off somewhere...

It works on my 20748 ROM that I built. This ROM is running excellent so far. I don't use word completion or spell check because they just slow me down when I'm texting like crazy LOL. I did check it on my ROM just now, and it's working fine. I'm using the 20748 build from the kitchen (just updated yesterday).

you sure it works in the "To:" part of texts and emails?

OK, I just checked and I can verify that it isn't working in the To: in emails or text messages. Not sure if it's because it hasn't "learned" anything yet, or if it's just not working, but as of right now, it's not working in the To: section.

Although, when I type an email or text message (in the body of the message), word completion and spell check are working properly.

It doesn't need to learn, it should do it instantly. No, it's not working in 20748. Thing is, I got frustrated and built a new 20273 ROM for this exact reason and now IT's not autocompleting addresses, either. So it's either a TF2D issue or something with the kitchen.

20273 works here Turbo. Maybe try a barebones flash and see if it works?

Was your 20273 built with the newest kitchen? How long ago did you build it? They all worked fine for me, but it's only this new build, built yesterday, that's not doing it. And I honestly include very little cooked-in, and nothing that I didn't have cooked in the past. So again, it's got to be either TF2D or the new kitchen. Those are the only new variables. Thing is, if I remember correctly, when I installed TF2D onto my 20273 build, before rebuilding to try to get more free RAM, I seem to recall the autocomplete working just fine.

i built 20273 with the lastest PPCKitchen_OEM and now word completion on the to fields of mail or text dont work. is anyone fixing this or not. same complaints for couple days now. this is frustrating.

Nope, doesn't cover my problem. I didn't cook in a Diamond keyboard, and although I did inadvertently install one after flashing, I hard-reset my phone after assuming that's what caused the problem and I still have no predictive text entry in the To: fields. I also checked that registry string in the referenced thread and it's set correctly, so it's not something cooked wrong.

lets face it, its something in the kitchen, as i too have no dialer cooked in at all.

Well, I'm glad to have that confirmed. I like knowing it's not a problem with 20748 or no2chem's ROMs, as well as not something I did. Still, I hope the problem gets found soon. I posted about it on the ppckitchens forum.

EDIT: Okay, obviously it's the kitchen because I just tested the on-screen keyboard (since you reported it still works, and I hadn't tried it before), and it's completely different than the previous autocomplete method. Autocomplete in To: fields used to appear just below the actual field you were typing in. This one appears just above the keyboard. Completely different. Obviously they switched to a new, "better" system, that doesn't work with the hardware keyboard. Not an improvement.

Colonel is working on it and testing things out to see if he can determine what keeps borking it. I would say hopefully by next update. However if your talking about name input the way it has worked for along time is type out the whole name and hit space then it will give u the name choice...

It's never worked that way for me. Consistently within typing the first one or two letters it starts suggesting names. It's not until building a 20748 ROM that it's worked in any other way. The other way seems drastically less convenient, as it's often a person whose entire name I don't remember (acquaintances are frequently known on first-name-only basis, or I don't necessarily remember the spelling of one of their names), so narrowing it down as I go is a major timesaver. Losing that would be a big letdown.
