Yes, several fixes have been out for a while, even this. I'm just spreading the news that now they have it in a convenient cab form that fully works except for actual com port connections. It's better than what the original was because it has bug fixes and the cab file easily installs everything without editing the registry or copying files to specific locations. Now anybody new or veteran can install and uninstall easily.

well i followed the links instructions to update to this ROM: Verizon Wireless MR1 (3.57.605.1)

and i changed the settings and what not

what do they mean by

any GPS radio

and how do i use this...

Required Tools:

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/theme...mages/http.pngGPSServer CAB - Application written by Skywing which allows working GPS on MR1 for both 3rd party applications* & VZNavigator. Full thread can be found http://wiki.xda-developers.com/theme...mages/http.pnghere

Cool beans. Gotta love the resourcefulness of the crew here.

actually... the cab file just changes the registry to match the pde settings, this is for the people who have no idea what they are doing... the cab alone does not unlcok agps, you still have to do the qpst fix in order to achieve that, and aside from that there is already a 6 or so page thread with this information.

This fix cab doesn't work. Not only that, but it doesn't properly backup the original gpsapi.dll file prior to overwriting it. I'm talking about the Valhalla gps cab. I need the original gpsapi.dll file back from the original MR1 Verizion ROM. Does anyone have just the file, I don't want to reflash the whole ROM just for one file. I need it ASAP please!!!

1. The cab file DOES work, as it's worked for the majority of people both here and at xda. The reason why it didn't work for you is because you are using the old PRI on MR1. What is your reason for not updating the PRI?

2. Quoted from your pm...

Seems kinda bad to release something that doesn't have a proper rollback on it.
If you would have taken the time to read the thread regarding aGPS on MR1, you would have read exactly how the cab file works. Of course it's not going to properly uninstall. It's stated several times that the cab installs all dll's to \Windows with an extra 'x' added on to the file name for security issues and is the only way to integrate the fix into cab format. After install, the provxml renames these files to their proper names. If you had simply navigated to \Windows prior to uninstall and renamed the files to add an 'x' to the end of the file name, then uninstalled, you would have seen that it would uninstall just fine. Now that you've already tried to go ahead and uninstall manually, your chances to fully uninstall the cab properly have dwindled.

3. In the state you're currently in, to get the original gpsapi.dll back, navigate to \Windows and rename gpsapi.dll to gpsapix.dll then soft reset. After reset, navigate to \Windows and you should see gpsapi.dll magically reappear (the original) alongside gpsapix.dll (the custom). Now you can manually delete gpsapix.dll. This is ALSO documented in the original thread.

I've follwed the instructions here, installing MR1 (windows mobile 6.1?) and the Valhalla cab file succesfully. Now what? How do I access the GPS function?

I just don't want the new PRI. What the big deal? Others are running just fine without it and no issues. According to what people have posted, if they use your AGPS writeup (not the Valhalla cab part), GPS should work just fine in, but it's botched on mine because of the damn dll files that are missing. Also, according to what you wrote, if you do a hard reset (clear data), shouldn't the files come back anyhow? Or would they only come back if the new ones are renamed?

Which files should be there? gpsapi.dll, oemgpsOne.dll, and stdgps.dll? All three of these are missing on mine, even after a data clear. WTF, shouldn't the factory reset bring back factory settings and files? Am I missing something here?

Also, your wiki says nothing in detail on which PRI it works or doesn't work with. Yes, you indicate to let customizations run, which dictates that the new PRI would be on there, but if people don't want the new PRI, then can they still use the older aGPS QPST workaround and get functioning GPS? If so, then all I need are the original dll files back. Do you happen to have good copies of them (non-modified)? This was the point behind my PM anyway... thanks in advance.

The new PRI is now recommended as GPS works with both the old and new. It contains more than just GPS related instructions.

GPS will NOT work on MR1 if you don't have PRI 2.03_002, even with the GPSServer cab. Yes, GPS and aGPS will work fine on a custom rom with either PRI, but you aren't using a custom rom. The reason for your missing files is because you didn't let customizations run while flashing MR1.

As far as I'm concerned, these are your two choices.

1. Use a custom rom with aGPS fix and you can use whatever PRI you'd like (though I still recommend 2.03_002).

2. Reflash MR1 and let customizations run. Install GPSServer.
