ICS tethering just stopped working? Verizon - DCD 3.2.2
 

My ICS tethering, whether by USB, WMWifirouter, or Bluetoon PAN, have all stopped working. The problem actually surfaced about a month ago but I'm just now getting around to dealing with the issue.

I'm using DCD 3.2.2, FWIW. ICS was working great until it just stopped one day. It will assign both of my laptops IP addresses and connects to the data network with no errors. However, when I attempt to hit a web site, my browser immediately comes back with an error that it can't find the site.

I've reflashed my phone several times, tried several different laptops, all to no avail. Before the problems started, I even had it working with Ubuntu.

I can access web services with the phone itself with no problems at all. I am on Verizon.

Thoughts?

I would guess something in your registry got screwed up. Maybe its just a sign that its time to flash a new rom. I remember reading somewhere (probably the xda ICS thread) that the registry can become messed up with ICS under certain conditions.

Not sure what part of the registry is changed/used by ICS and I don't think it would be worth it to go through the work to find out. It could also be a WM Networking setting which may be harder to find.

Maybe someone here can post the registry settings that are used by ICS and you can compare but.... If it was me I'd load a new rom. DCD3.26 is working great for me and has a bit more memory @ boot than 3.22. There is a link to 3.26 in my sig but it looks like DCD's FTP server is currently down at the moment.

for me if i update my prl( *228 option2) i lose that feature

Oh yeah Verizon must have disabled something. I read about that. Try searching for Verizon ICS XV6800 on Google or XDA or here.

Thanks for the tips folks.

I went ahead and just reflashed with DCD 3.2.6 and put the 3.42.50 radio on for good measure. After flashing ICS works again. I'm not sure why reflashing with 3.2.2 wasn't fixing the problem... but, hey, it works now.
