Always looking for a better radio for Verizon. Trying to get rid of the weak signal breakup "gurgling" that I get a lot (with many phones.)
Went from 3.42.30 to 3.42.50 back to 3.42.30. It seemed a bit better.
If this seems worth hanging on to, I will post back.

Edit: Well, I am still using it, but hard to say if it is really much better.

Okay.. I guess I will be the first one to report this..


10 minutes ago.. i had radio 3.42.50 installed with PRi 2.03_002.. PPCkitchen build 20273..

*Tomtom 7 GPS had 2 bars.. and was searching for about 45 seconds before picking up any satelite and getting a lock.. Keep in mind.. GPS reception inside my home is extremely bad regardless of Radio version .30, .40 or .50.. I normally get lock within 5 seconds on the freeway, but thats a whole different scenario..

I've just flashed the VZW Radio 3.37.. still with PRI 2.03_002.. PPCkitchen build 20273..

Tomtom GPS has 4 satelite on a cold start.. locks in about 5 seconds and now has 8 bars when locked..
this is a significant change for the better..

both test were made sitting here on my couch..

so i guess my conclusion is.. the new VZW Radio works best with this PRI 2.03_002..

Finally us VZW users get a break....:mrgreen:

Well I'm not seeing my gps lock any faster from my basement, but evdo seems stronger/faster!

i've only ever flashed a radio rom once so pardon me if this is noobish. I'm running radio 3.35 and pri 1.35_002. can i flash just the radio without having to flash the rom again? and part 2 of super noob sounding question, does the pri 2.03_002 come with the 3.37.75 rom? again sounds noobish to me and yes, i'm going searchin just hoping someone can answer before i spend all day on the computer again, and don't get anything done! lol.

you can flash the radio(comes with pri) via micro sd card without having to flash the entire rom make sure your micro sd card is formatted with a fat32 file system first...then copy the radio to the card...enter bootloader (power + camera + soft reset = bootloader) then follow the onscreen prompt.

How did you upgrade the PRI to 2.03_002? Did you go through all the hoops with the official upgrade, or has the PRI been funneled off on its own now too? I am running 1.35_002.

thanx juggs, that was damn quick. i read through 2 threads! lol. I generally flash via usb, due to no sd reader for this computer. is that gonna make a difference?

it makes a world of difference...usb requires an entire flash of the phone and can cause data loss...with flashing from the card...there is no risk

and i just got done yesterday resetting all my programs and whatnot. guess i'll have to back-up and flash a radio. not let customizations run, restore my back-up and call for an a-key..... ya!!!! fun (please note heavy sarcasm)

lol i've been with verizon for years. way before i got into any of this. unfortunatly here in Erie pa they win. lol. my sis and her hubby just switched from sprint cuz the service here isn't that good. My business partner is always using my phone cuz his has no service in alot of areas. other than this whole upgrading deal, which we've found ways around obviously, verizon hasn't done me too bad. lol. now we're just waitng on EVDO. go 10 minutes in any direction from my house and you have it, just not in the city or immediate surrounding areas.

I don't need to relock or anything to run this radio right? just flash and go. I'm running olipro 2.4 radio 3.35 and dcd 3.2.6

So I updated from SD using the link provided. My radio version is right, but my PRI is 1.35_002.

I don't want to have to reflash completely....what do I need to do?

still not sure if this really works??? i mean going to new PRI means never comming back.. I would love to use TOMTOM 7 w/ quick lock. DId you use any other programs (like taht QPST thing w/ gps one, titan quickfix) or just literally taht PRI, radio, rom and launch tomtom regularlly and get good lock?? can anyone confirm before i got back and do this..

bump --- wanna know wether this is a better radio than 3.42.02 which I currently have... or what most consider to be the best. ntim but i'm on sprint...

edit: also my PRI is 2.04_003

I downloaded it from XDA and wondering if its the correct PRI before i flash. anyone?

OK, see this is what happens when i start poking around and reading other stuff. I end up with more questions and further confusicated. lol. I'm currently running, and i know i already posted this but oh well, olipro 2.40 unlocker, Sprint radio 3.35 and DCD 3.2.6 ROM. If I understand this correctly I have to relock and flash back to verizon, then flash the new verizon radio and rom, let the customizations run. the unlock again with Nue 2.47 unlocker and re-flash DCD 3.2.6?

I downloaded this radio file to my microSD card and put phone in bootloader mode as described above and nothing happens. I get the Olicom 2.40 color bar screen but nothing happens afterwards. I renamed the file downloaded as described above (actually, it was already named right) but it just doesn't work.

Ideas?

I have the 3.37.75 radio version from the recent firmware upgrade posted on the vzw site. But, I still need to get the GPS to work meaning, I suppose, unlocking the phone. Now that I have that radio version will the unlocking be different than that offered pre-firmware release?

How can I install PRI 2.03_002 without lodaing the new VZW ROM? Do I need to load that PRI to get better performance from this radio?

Dude forget I asked. I don't need no new stinking PRI. I am getting very fast locks now with Radio 2.42.40 and old PRI. See this post for a link to XDA. This fix rules.
