ur too quick chevy :) i did press refresh on the page.

but thanks for ur opinion.

supposedly it is reverse able but who knows. there is along process to fix it. i think it involves downgrading the bootloader, flashing rom, upgrading bootloader flashing rom. some other steps but thats the jist of it.

I've wondered about that, since I've not had any issues with PRI, A key or anything else others on other carriers have had to deal with. I've never had to re-input them, nor call tech support for assistance. The phone has simply worked after each flash. Is this just me, or is Alltel not playing like the others (I know Verizon bought Alltel, and at least locally Alltel's data network is on Verizons', but so far nothing has changed, and they don't talk like they're one and the same company).

While I probably won't flash their new ROM (I've flashed my phone 48 times so far, and I've got it the way I like it), I would like to know what they improved with the new one, if anything.

i agree. verizon does own alltel but, as some one pointed out to me, it hasnt been aproved by the fcc yet.

i also agree that alltel must be doing something different then the others. i am very satisfied with my service and my hardware. i havent had to mess with the EPST ever.

supposedly the upcoming alltel rom will have built-in gps support. and some other things. i guess its just their 6.1 update that is becoming commonplace.

maybe all it will be good for is 'ripping' a bunch of stuff out of it and using in a new kitchen build.

Verizon may own Alltel now (or close to it) but here in ND they will not be switching over to exclusively Verizon. The FCC won't allow a monopoly and that is what it will be here. Talks of AT&T becoming the other player in ND.

Re: will upcoming alltel rom break GPS?

Verizon does not own Alltel yet, there is a proposed merger that will most likly be completed by December if all approvals are complete...FCC and Justice Department...However Alltel and Verizon are still competitors and as such are still making independant decisions... they would be in violation of antitrust rules is the management teams worked together. They probably do have teams working together, but they would be groups that had no control or communication with operations from either side, until it's legal for them to start integrating. I believe Sprint Nextel worked together in this manner.
