Benfits Of Cooking?

With All The 3rd Party Apps Out There. Gps Today, throttle Launcher Etc. Is There Any Advantage To Taking The Time To Learn How To Cook Roms Yourself Instead Of Getting A Stabile Rom From One Of Our Boys And Putting Your Own Apps On?

Many of the common applications are in the kitchen. It is a simple click and the application will be put on your ROM. The applications that are built into a ROM will survive a Hard reset whereas the ones installed via cab file will not. If you have to hard reset they will all have to be reinstalled. Having them in the ROM speeds up the process of setting up your phone after a hard reset. Also you can use an Auto installed, such as tierautoinstall to automatically install your cab files after a flash. You just put the cab on an SD card(on the root of the card) and when you hard reset it will run and install the cabs for you. It simplifies the process a lot. That is just my opinion. I guess you can tell from my former post I am a fan of cooking my own.

yep you get exactly what you you want or you could lookat some of the good cooks on the site like no2chem, nexvision, or dharvey. or you can use a cook that makes roms not as popular like me i just made my first one but what ppc do you have it just says toshiba

I might make the jump.. but I'm not sure I really understand the full advantage either. I use Sprint and HTC's stock roms, and they seem to function pretty well to me. I'm left with a decent amount of memory on boot, and while they may not come with every application I need, it's not exactly difficult to install cab after a flash.

The only thing that really concerns me, is how much of a potential hassle it could be to relock and reflash to a stock rom if I ever needed to make an insurance claim. Thoughts?
